Well that's one way to put it. Welcome to the stage ADD. We got folks that live down there and at least one who winters down there. I'm sure they'll be along and help you out. We do love photos.

Welcome to the Forum, ADD. I have spent the last 10 Winters on the Gulf Coast. The first three in Port Aransas, TX., and the last three in South Padre Island, TX. Where are you headed?
ADD: Welcome to the Republic of Texas. If you will scroll back, you will find the December report of the Texas Game and Fish Commission on Salt Water locations and a summary of fishing at those locations. I posted these recently.
Almost any of these where there is a ship channel, there are also jetties. You can ventue out on any one of these jetties and fish for a wide assortment of saltwater species. Just be super careful, since you are up in age and these are rough and may also wet and sliippery. All these jetties exist from the far eastern side with the Sabine River all the way down to Port Isabel.
If you are open to suggestion, due to weather conditions, I would recommend you try far South Texas and head for Port Isabel. It had a lot to offer in accomodations for Winter Texans. Just Sayin...RJS

That is a good suggestion, RJS. Port Isabel/So. Padre island are about the same latitude as Miami/Miami Beach, thus, about the same temperature, at about 1/3 of the lodging cost, cost of living, and the number of people & traffic. It's a no brainer.
Yeah, but ya gotta put up with them Texans. What's it worth to not have to deal with that bs?
Spirit: I beg your pardon. Having lived more than 10 years in the Rio Grande Valley, I consider myself competent to state that if you were to choose to reside during the winter months in on South Padre Island, you would find youself amongst a delightful assortment of Midwestern retirees. And there would also be a reasonable number of Mexicans, and a small component of Native Texans! Your lack of knowledge of the density of Bull Shipping Texan is forgiven. Just Sayin....RJS

I don't know yet but I'm thinking of ranging from Corpus Christie to Galveston my wife and I are trying to do this trip as cheaply as possible I was hoping to find camping and shore fishing with a beach
ADD: you will happy to know there are adequte beaches from Galveston, all the way down to South Padre Island. The furhter south you go the better the winter weather. The winter weather will experience cold snaps we call Northers, but will pass in a few days, and the further south you go, the less impact cold fronts have. Just Sayin...RJS

Texas uses Bulls for Shipping instead of FedEx and UPS.
The Texans can be irritating, but it's them midwesterners that keep me in California. RJS I have visited your wonderful state on numerous occasions and I have always been treated graciously and with a certain amount of pity for living in California.

That's 1 pretty lengthy stretch of Gulf Coast. I'm not personally familiar with campgrounds in Texas, but I'm betting that your "favorite search engine" on the internet could help you find the spots you are looking for.
I've only been from Sabine Pass, to Freeport, TX; while on dry land... There are, in fact jetties at the mouth of the Brazos River, but; my "CRS" will not allow me to recall, whether or not you can fish them or camp nearby.

I greatly admire ya, Spirit, but being Anywhere in Texas beats the HELL out of California. Lol. Have a good day, sir.
