Kinda like mountain oysters. You have to peel the skin off before you cook them though.

You've never eaten them or you don't want to prepare them?
What I remember most of San Blas was the damned mosquitos. Never seen so many swarms even in the swamps of NJ

Yeah, it's pretty buggy down there.
I was down there in January 1975.
Spent 3 months down there in 83. In Barra Navidad for thanksgiving. Offered as much as $30 American for a turkey. Nobody had one so we had a couple chickens. The next day turkeys were walking down the street. My most remembered experience was at the Palenque ruins and I thought Chiapas province to be the most serene as compared to the tourist havens. We thought iof going to Costa Rica but the only way to get there was through Nicaragua which at the time was not a good place to be as an American. Oh well, Mexico was great, had a wonderful vacation. My longest and nicest, which caused me to become single again, thank you Lord.

Both Saw. I ate a lot of different crap in Nam and Tokyo and that was enough for me. I got an overnight in Qui Nhon and was looking for a good place to eat. I saw a sign that read chicken flied steak and flinch flies, so I stopped in. It smelled good but when I went to cut into it, it was still alive and tough as hell. The flinch flies were one tater split in quarters. The salt jar had dirt and grease in it from fingers digging out the salt. Iโd had enough and on my way out I asked what was the meat from. It was the tongue of a water buffalo, dipped in flour and fried. I had fried dog in Tokyo, a pickled squid tip, and fried grasshoppers. I was in too deep with saki to turn down the crickets. ๐

Badbobby and Saw were about to order. Bobby says "What are you going to get?" Saw says "I think I'll have a tongue sandwich." Bobby says, "That's disgusting, eating something out of a cow's mouth! I'll have an egg sandwich."
In my opinion, tounge is the best meat for sandwiches. Cooked in the crock pot, peel and slice then cold with ketchup. ๐๐๐
I went home, left her flat in Mexico with her dad and brother. Had to or i might have ended up in a Mexican prison. Better safe than sorry I always say.

Not sure I would like it pickled, but boiled beef tongue is good.
After you boil it you have to peel the skin off it. Some people don't understand that. Then you just slice it crosswise and enjoy.
My mother in law prepared tongue in a way that most anyone could eat it, even me. She first boiled it until fully cooked, peeled it and then rolled it in bread crumbs and fried it like schnitzel. Nice and tender and quite tasty.
Who missed the joke? Cow's mouth but Where does an egg come from, lolol?!!

Tongue on rye with a sharp mustard is a popular choice in the Jewish delis here in the NYC metro area! I like it cold or hot.
