You don't have to for donating. I just need to do it to set up the fund for my friend.

Hey Greg, I'd check with some tech savvy friends first before givin out that info.
Surely someone can help you set it up without that.

I hear that advice. I'd never give my Social number. To many thieves run amuck.

Will do. This GO FUND ME PAGE has bee around awhile. I haven't heard of anyone having a problem giving their info. That doesn't mean it hasn't happened. I'm open to other ideas for people to donate if people have them.

Well, we COULD just go old school and send you a check. Heaven forbid.

I thought about that but quickly dismissed the idea. I want people to be as comfortable as possible when donating. I think this site is fairly secure. Tomorrow, I will have time to look hard at it.

OK. What do you feel is uncomfortable about dropping a check in the mail? Say as opposed to giving out your CC#.

I would be okay with people mailing me a check. I wasn't sure if guys on FS would be comfortable with that idea. The post office getting it to me is probably as safe as anything else I guess. It will go directly into an account for his day to fish either way.

I'm not sure but I believe a"go fund me "page will accept PayPal. Most anybody who buys stuff online, has a PayPal account. I opened one after ordering an old reel part from western Canada . I got the part, but an employee used my C.C.# to order something from England. Citibank caught it and contacted me, so it didn't cost me anything but the headache of canceling my card, ordering a new one, and notifying a couple of accounts of the new card number.

Wouldn't happen if you mail a check. No CC# to use.

That's why you open a PayPal account, no more C.C.# going anywhere. PayPal bills your card when items are shipped. Or in the case of a donation, you just tell them how much and who to donate to.
