Looks like the barbs have not been pinched down. Just my observation if you are releasing them.

Raining all last weekend. Checked out a local pawn shop’s fishing supplies. Bought three that looked interesting for $7. Fished one of them today. No complaints. Don’t miss out on pawn shop bargains.

This time of year and with folks hurting for money, the two most active things going on are robberies and folks pawning whatever, to get them some cash, or robbers pawning the stolen whatever for the cash.

Also, the stores have been cleaned out with people buying up everything outdoors. I think gently used Rvs, campers, boats, hunting, hiking, and fishing equipment will be flooding the markets in the next couple of years.

I thrive on pawn shops, flea markets, resale shops & any 2nd hand store. Have bought a lot of tackle from those places. Just a small tip. If you find several lures don't price them separately, price them as a lot. If you find a rod or reel with the lures bundle everything for 1 price. Usually you'll get a better deal. I hit a roadside junk sale today & bought an old Lazy Ike lure in a color i have never seen. Black & white. Cost $1.00. Wish he'd had more. Good luck.

I do C&R, but haven’t made the commitment to flatten the barbs. How does that affect catching?

I hope so. I’m always looking for great deals. Their loss, my gain.

Just keep the line tight,Jwid. But if you give them slack, they may throw the hook. It keeps you on your toes. Most fish I lose at the boat, reaching for the net.

Exactly, that’s how I bought 3x$3 lures for $7. They don’t negotiate at Bass Pro. Pawn shops and flea markets are completely different.

Not so much the catching as releasing them with less damage done. Sorry I mentioned it. To each their own way. Have a great time catching and be safe out there.

And Fred I would rather them flip off at the boat ( already had the fun of the catch but no pics )than damage them more having to pull the barbs back through. Just my feelings. They claim a high percentage still die.

You know Hunt, I hear that high percentage BS all the time. In the last 10 years or so, I've seen exactly 1 dead bass floating on the surface. I've seen a couple hundred panfish, mostly small ones. I have caught good sized large and smallmouth with multiple hook holes and scars, and they were healthy as a horse. I only fish artificials, but bait fishing obviously has more risk of injury swallowing hooks. I tell people if C&R was so lethal, the millions caught in tournaments would have died and bass would be extinct!
