One more. Who's this guy, and what's the movie? Could have been several folks' last movie, but wasn't. It was the last movie of one of Hollywood's greatest stars. Who might that be?

Richard Boone, And the movie was the Shootist
Almost Boone's last. Almost Jimmy Stewart's last. And almost Opie's last acting role in the movies. Quite a cast. Anyone remember the actress that played Opie's mom and ran the boarding house? She made a few more after that one. Quite a few more.
Spirit I actually just watch that movie again last week. Good one
My Dad and I had a Saturday evening ritual of polishing the family's shoes, while watching Rawhide and "Have Gun, Will Travel"... Paladin was an epoch character. My cousin and her husband lived next door to Richard Boone in Kona, Hawaii. On a visit, my father, Ted(cousin's hubby) and Boone built a lava rock seawall together over 2-3 days. My Dad said he (Boone) was as gruff in person, as his TV persona on first meeting, but became quite friendly after a bit. With respectful reticence, Dad also said that he was "even less handsome, in person" !!
Paladin was a character I remember my mom saying she thought was really handsome. I'm sure I remember that because Boone was a strikingly (to me anyway) ugly dude to be a lead on a TV series at that time. Think James Garner or Fess Parker or Clint Walker.
Exactly.....long ways from the likes of Robert Wagner or James Arness and certainly the lead-in show's Clint Eastwood.

Well, he did usually play a bad guy.
