On Saturday, friends and I went out of Oregon Inlet, NC to fish for tuna. After six hours of fishing, we caught 14 yellow fin and 2 black fin tuna. The sharks ate 5 tuna!

Perfect day on big water 35 miles offshore!

Tuna fever, we think, is the best boat out of Oregon Inlet. Captain Billy Maxwell and his mate Chuck always put us on the fish. We always book at least one trip a year usually in middle May. Got blown out this year but looking forward to spring. We’ve fished with him fo 20 years. Congrats on the catch.

Captain Billy engineered and designed his boat, built his boat and captains it. Amazing!

As we got off the boat he told us his specialty is tuna fishing as his boat name suggests!

Btw dwieds, where do you fish at SML?

We have a house near the state park on the Bedford County side so I fish for LM in the summer months around docks a bank structures. This time of year stripper fishing heats up but they can be tough to find. I fish a 17 ‘ Angler center console. We went up 2 weeks ago and stripers were surface feeding in our cove. Awesome.

At the Pointe with a 17.5 center console aqua sport.

Thus far have not had much success; however, I have been successful in hitting rainy weekends!

Heading back down early December to see what Cobbs creek may have to offer.

Awesome day. I was just there three weeks ago but it was too rough for us. I’m so jealous! — Chris
