Tyferr99 Loc: Palm coast

Just moved to palm coast from Ohio. I've never fished in salt water until recently. Any pointers, tips, times, tides, or seasonal info would be wonderful. Good day =)

Learn to read the surf if you fishing from shore. Go out at low tide and get your bearings, pay attention to things like rocks, troughs, then see how the water reacts with those things when the tide is in - that's generally where the fish hang out and the fishing is generally best when the tide is coming in or just starting to go out. Generally better fishing in the early morning before the sun is too high and in the evening as it's going doing - so when the tides correspond with dawn and dusk the fishing can be really good. Don't know a thing about palm coast, but get you a lucky craft surf pointer and throw that out there - it'll catch anything that eats other fish.

ishing from a pier or jetty and if you can cast out pretty good, get a sabiki rig or even better learn how to tie 1 yourself. Toss that out and catch your own bait, that the bigger fish are eating right then. Or, cast a net out and catch a bunch of bait if you can.

Recommend you join at Saltstrong.com They have the talent that knows the area very well. Once you join you will want to get the INSIDER option for a few bucks a year. They provide all sorts of info and if you send them an email with a particular question Luke is sure to answer it. Tight lines. Bobber 22

I like the metallic sardine one, it works real well on the left coast. You should ask around where you're at, or maybe someone on here can advise?

I usually fish soft plastics and at times shrimp on a popping cork. I have a huge selection of plugs and other lures but seldom revert to them. I have several that are close looking to the sardine one, some with a lip and others twitch baits. Exurberating to watch a top water strike on a spook. Thanks for the come back. I livedd in Half Moon Bay for 30 years but as the arthritis set in the dampness there was taking a toll so am here in Florida where there is humidity in its place. The joints work a lot better with less pain.

I've visited Half Moon Bay several times but I've never fished there. Got a real good friend that used to live over that way and he fished it for rays and sharks. I need to get over to the state park and go for the perch. You ever do that?

As kids all the local young fishermen used to go through or undeer the fence to fish our local reservoir. Perch werre plentiful on the south end of the ressie but the damn was the place to fish especially if you liked being chased by the local gendarms. There were some huge smallies there. Had a preegnant female that really wanted to live to lay her eggs. She took a small countdown gold rapala. She was a jumping crazy. Led her into a depression in the clay bank for a quick and easy release when she tried again to jump. I said I will count that. She jumped 14 times counted them. Felt really good to watch her swim away. Guessed her at somewhere around 5 pounds. Won't forget that fish.

Well you truly are a Californian if you call bluegills "perch" - which I assume you are. Ain't no fresh water perch in California. I's talkin about surf perch out of the ocean.

if they iive by the ocean, surf perch and opal eye, calico bass, stuff like that. If freshwater - bluegill, trout, catfish. But no, no perch. I cut my teeth on those yellow ones 65 or so years ago in Indiana. With my grandpa. Wonderful memories.
