Same over here around early summer. Hope you get in some more trips with your grandson. Thanks for the post.
I third the suggestion by Egghead. Should blow up the picture and hang one at your house and one at the kids house. Blow another one up to hang at a family cabin too if you have one in the family. Thanks for the story too. You could blow up the text too to remind anyone that sees the picture of what little Captain in Training said that day. The side of the boat adds to the story too.
Wow! What a fabulous picture!! Your grandson looks so proud!! What a smile!!! Your grandson will remember his 1st fishing day on the water for the rest of his life!!! My grandson is 26 now his 1st days on the lake with me!! He won 2 kids tournaments by the time he was 15 and still is an avid angler!! You should be mighty proud grandpa!!!!
That’s what it’s all about, that little guy will remember that day for the rest of his life, great job gramps , congrats on the fish, we need more people like you in this world! Be safe, good luck on your next time out!
That is certainly a “Best Day Ever” story. And your little grandson just looks the part. What a handsome feller! And yes, the smile says it all!
Great picture. That’s what life is all about.
I let kids fish my pond and they always ask if they are gong to catch something and a couple have whispered in my ear that dad takes them and they catch nothing!! I always have to smile and remind them after catching a few that it is the fun of going with your dad that is important. Some of them at the young age get it. I take their pictures with up to 30 pound catfish and send ehm home with an 8x10 that I print out for them. Many are coming back after 15 years and fishing again and always tell me how much fun they had here with their parents. Many many good memories.

Got to take my grandson fishing on the bay for the first time. Light breeze, mostly sunny and mild; basically perfect. On the way out I asked him how many fish he wanted to catch? He replied, "If I catch 28 fish I'm going to explode!" We caught the bay: redfish, trout, sheephead, flounder, and the proverbial hardhead. On the way home I asked him if he had any fun? "Best day ever", smiling ear-to-ear. Reminds me how grateful I am that every once in a while the good Lord smiles on us fishermen and we get to catch a lot more than fish.

OMG, what a great picture of your grandson. It definitely tugged at my heartstrings. I’m a grandpa and it even made me proud of both of you. God Bless.

I love the picture and the whole idea of taking little kids fishing. I wouldn't normally add a picture to a post like this, but since you asked, this is one of my favorite shots.
I was just driving down the beach looking for a slot to fish when I saw this guy with a little kid of I guess about six. I have no idea who he is,, but I just had to stop and watch a good father and his son. They were out on the beach at 6 am and he's teaching him to cast. I watched for about five minutes and then just rode on down the beach. He'll never have to bail that kid out. He's raising him right.
