Just sitting here watching you tube videos, guys fishing for tuna and sharks off shore. It's kinda cool. The drone takes the bait out sets the bait right on the fish you can see the fish take it. Lol. Has anyone here done it??
Oh crap. !!! That sounds so cool
Sound like a good way to get towed out to see and never seen again. Remember, there was an Australian Prime Minister who went swimming and never was seen again. Just Sayin...RJS
Doubt it would be legal in WA. I know years ago people were using remote controlled toy boats to carry bait/lure out into the water and it was adjudged against the law. Things may have changed, but I doubt it.
There are a bunch of videos on you tube. It looks cool. I might just have to try it lol. Could be a good way to lose a drone too.lol
Well, just think of the much higher range you could scout over without having to actually cover it in your Kayak? It would increase your "EYES" by several miles, and give you a better idea of where schools of fish you were targeting, or avoiding! Just Sayin...RJS

the only reason we all heard about it Is he was a Prime Mister. The rest of us might be Prime Amazon types but not Prime MR tyoes so we could get pulled out to kingdom come and no one would no about it :)

You mean has anyone ever "drone" it?
Crones Drones Crohnies .....Clones Clonies. Quite a modern world we live in.
I remember in Oregon Slingshots below Bonneville Dam were cool for Sturgeon Fishing. People wrapped their lines around a five gallon bucket like a spinning reel and used a huge slingshot to shoot bait out 1/4 to 1/3 mile across the main Columbia river below the dam. Then guys got smarter and tried using R/C gas powered boats to take their bait out wherever they wanted it. Then the State outlawed RC Boats for fishing. Go figure.

I'm sure it's a state by state thing, but I don't think you can use a drone to aid in hunting or fishing. I believe it would be an "unfair chase" thing, but IDK. I will check on it in MN. when I wake up.

I was out in a boat there on the Columbia River and had baits land around the boat. They were using giant slingshots mounted in the bed of a pickup truck and were using railroad ties for weights. They really got some distance !!!

During Mackerel Season, in South Florida; 3,4,- 1/2 a dozen of us; would all pitch in "X# of Dollars" y hire a local pilot, with his own light aircraft; to "put us on" a school of Spaniards or King Mackerel... Once in a while, we'd end up/ a boat-load of bluefish, (Airplane Driver CLAIMED that "it looked like Mackerel to (me)"...

Railroad ties or railroad spikes?
I did some research on using a drone to aid in hunting and fishing. It is all pretty "gray". There are some federal regulations and of course some state ones regulating the use of a drone while hunting and fishing. I have decided that I wasn't going to use any drones. I can't afford one anyway. I think you can use one to "scout" an area for deer hunting, but then you can't hunt that area for like 12 or 24 hours. If you did "scout" an area, you could be arrested for harassing the animals. You could locate some fish feeding on the water's surface or some fish in shallow water, but then you could be arrested for harassing the fish. I'll let you try it and we will see what happens. I didn't see anything about placing bait with a drone. If bait was "placed" by a boat, they would be guilty of harassing the fisherman. Has anyone tried it?

I meant spikes. It would be hard tossing a R/R tie.
Using a drone to scout for fish, maybe. Using a drone to scout for deer, or ducks, etc.. I think not. That’s taking half the hunt out of the hunt. It may be fine for military purposes but not sport.
The guys using railroad ties are targeting huge fish that have never been landed yet. :)
