Went up north to the Bass/Salmon/Trout lake this morning. 52 degrees @ 9am, wind supposed die, didn't,steady 12mph, gusts to 16 or so. Fought the wind for 3hrs with only a 1/2 lb Largemouth to show for it. Went to leeward side of Island and had a bunch of 8in stocker trout trying to eat a soft jerkbait. Couldn't get it in their mouth. Kinda funny to watch. Went back out front for 1 more pass, nothing happening. Decided to call it, then thought, I've gotta go around the marina docks to get to the ramp, so what the heck, I'll give it a shot. Put on an unweighted Ocho, 2nd cast caught the biggest rock bass I'd ever seen, about 1.5lb. Ok it's a start, flipped into a couple more slips, bang, about a 2lb Largemouth, flipped the last couple slips, bang, another Largemouth about 2lbs. Saw a few boats heading in so I decided to beat them to the ramp, and called it a day. Not so bad after all.

Not bad for a consolation prize/location.. Just Sayin...RJS
Thanks guys, you know I've often thought of flipping these docks, but the whole marina is very shallow, 2-3ft, and the wind always blows there. Today it was blowing parallel to that outside dock,so I used it in my favor. Launching during the summer,I've often seen bass darting under the docks and many pontoon boats there. Didn't really expect them to be there now that the water is cooling off, 61-62 now.
Sure sounds and looks like fun Fred.
Bass can surpise you about where and what they might do. You have to follow the bait. It really doesn't matter what the fisherman thinks, the bass are going to follow the path of the bait. Just Sayin...RJS

Like we fishermen and ladies that go to the fishing gear store and follow the bait.
Exactly! Good point. Just Sayin...RJS

Not really Plum, in a normal (no virus) season, the marina is very hectic. They have a boat dealer, Merc sales and repair, bait and tackle shop, and dockside restaurant,as well as slip and boat rental. And the only launch ramp on the lake. Normally when we fish there it's launch and go.
