Sheeeesh... Boy we all have the skin issues.... You know it when you call the Drs office and they recognize you....
I'm in San Diego and do paddle boarding for exercise but talk to plenty that fish the bay on them...
I think the best advise is to not spend too much money on the rod or reel or at least keep it on a leash.
Learn plastics in that area. Most tackle shops in the area offer great intel...Hell!!! Half the kids that work at them probably started their work morning doing what you want to do.
Oh a few last things....Welcome and wear sunblock! LOL
