Either way guys that is one dead deer. Nice going Mikey. Making Huntm22 jealous maybe.

Yes I am jealous. However I gave up deer hunting about 10 years ago so the younger generation could step it up. Actually quit gutting all the kills about 5 years ago. I am going for turkey with my crossbow this year. I also have the same crossbow and it’s amazing. Stepped from a 40 year old cross bow🤛. Had to get the hand crank as even my 6’2” son that lays carpet for a living could not cock it - he thought I was just wimpy till he tried. I got my laughs then. I use muzzy broadheads and have it dialed in and get 4” group at 50 yds. Have done a couple Robinhoods until I learned and only shoot 1 arrow at a time. Look out turkeys! Our fall hunt we can get three tags each. Just too many turkeys nowdays. Gonna try for a goose also - out of the air and not on the ground - that should be interesting!

Great shooting. What tip do you use? Good through shot - great placement. Congrats

Old deadeye Mike, nice shot. There's not a fish or game critter safe when you're around. Thanks for sharing.

Certainly a fatal shot. I always aimed lower with a recurved long bow. However, i always aimed a lot lower because of the speed of an arrow from my bow was a lot slower than the bolt from your crossbow. I had to compensate for the deer tensing its muscles to spring. Just Sayin....RJS

What brand of x bow "pistol" do you have. I have been thinking about getting one to use from my kayak. Mark

Hi Mike. I got a new Wicked Ridge Invader 400 shooting 400 FPS. I’m shooting TenPoint bolts and am using Rage Hypodermic Tripan Crossbow 100 GR bolts. Been out only once and no shots yet. Got to see em to shoot em. My questions to you is; 1. How far was your shot. 2. Out of a tree stand, ground blind or something else. 3. Were you using a mono, bi or tripod. 4. If a tripod did you use the yoke it came with or a gun rest.

This is my first time using a crossbow and was using a gun rest on a tripod at the archery shop. I really liked the way it worked so I bought one, just the gun rest. It is a Primos 2 point gun rest and should work on any tripod with a 1/4-20 bolt. I bought it at Walmart.com of all places. I have 2 bog pod tripods so I switched out the head for this gun rest. Works great for me, so far anyway. I’ve got 6 tree stands out but I’m thinking of hunting on the ground this year!

Mike your shot was right on the money, good job! My crossbow also has a scope on it and has been sighted in out to 40 yards with groups the size of a half dollar. With the neck injury I have I don’t think I could make a group any smaller than a grapefruit. I’m just not as stable as I was before my injury. I need all the help I can get.

I’m going to stick with my bog pod. I use it all the time rifle hunting.

I hate having to use a crossbow, I would rather be using my PSE.

I’ve been shooting a youth model PSE for about 8-9 years set at 45 pounds. All shots were complete pass throughs. Closest 5 yards, furthest 25 yards.
