Any fish sometimes is way better....than no fish. Looks good. Decent Rainbows are always fun. I went and drove up the roads here where i usually launch boats and fish. Can not even go up there. I drove by where one of fires was near my daughter's house. I know its all natural but landslides are too. Some of hunting buddies are bummed out. Others think it will help hunting. i have a feeling it may help for a hundred years from now. More people are building houses....hunting and every other thing here. Hunting has gone down in success rate for as long as i have done it here. Fire will add to it.

I've caught Walleye in the Noxon Reservoir. Trout Creek area, North or Falls Creek.

I was only in Oregon for 20 years but saw the same thing with hunting. Heck the hardest part was drawing a tag but the hunting was worse each time I went.
The big Yellowstone Park fire actually made hunting way better the following year after the fire. Lots of green grass grew back where there were trees before. In Oregon the forest usually grows back in manzanita and other brush that’s not desirable food for wild life so my guess is you’re doomed in that department. Plus there’s way too many bunny huggers there anyway so they’ll get their paws in it you can bet.

I've been fishing the Columbia river system at lake Roosevelt.

Odd not to catch walleye up there isn’t it? I’ve never fished there but heard it’s walleye central. I know the walleye fishing on the lower Columbia around Biggs Junction drops off in the fall too. We slayed em in May and June. Not uncommon to catch 25/30 a day not even trying. Now it’s one here and one there.

I moved to Oregon in 1980. Learning how to fish for Salmon and Steelhead in Oregon took a lot of work. You have to have water in order to get the fish to return to the rivers from the Ocean. After a good rain the rivers are flowing and can the water can be very murkey or even muddy. You have to wait until the river drops and clears. You have to learn what the river height is for each river when the fishing is best. I actually kept a log book. Each river was best at a different height. There was a website that you could go to for river heights. When the water was at the right height on the river that you wanted to fish, you went fishing. My best catches; 38 lb Chinook Salmon and 19 lb Steelhead. Oregon also has Walleyes in the Columbia River. In 1980 Oregon thought that the Walleye was a garbage fish that would eat the small Salmon and Steel head so there was no limit on the Walleyes. The average Walleye was 9 lbs. They ran a net sample at the John Day Dam and they netted a 25 lb Walleye that matched the World Record weight.

Those are both good fish in Oregon. I got a 22 pound steelhead but I kinda cheated. The Indians gave it to me because I helped them pull a hoop net that had a load of chinook in it. Took three of us to lift it. There were 18 chinook in it and they were all over 15 pounds. It was in the fall right below the John Day dam. My PB chinook was a 43 pound hen I caught off the bridge at Sherars falls on the Deschutes in the fall. I turned her loose. My person best steelhead is 13 pounds out of the Columbia. We catch lots of walleye at the mouth of the Klickitat in the spring. Several over 10 pounds and my fishing buddy caught a 17 pounder this year there in May.
