The one I had always stayed secure to the winch and front bracket. Never a problem.

Mine too, just gotta use the right type anchor. Either mushroom, or river. Not familiar with the model 2, you may have more options. Good luck.

Okay, I get the remote anchor answer. But the cheapskate in me wonders why you don’t anchor from the position in the boat where you sit. I have a small pontoon with a 20lb mushroom anchor at each end. I can drop an anchor at either end I am fishing.

Just be careful anchoring the stern on a breezy or busy day.

Those mushrooms are good for you boater guys. My first anchor on the yak was a 5lb mushroom. Doesn't work well in muddy bottoms when the yak is being pulled under while pulling up.

I always anchor to the bow. Seen others get swamped anchoring to the stern.

I have a 15’ Arima ocean boat. I use an electric Minnkota Terrova with i-pilot and spot lock. When I get to an area I want to fish I push a little anchor button and that thing holds me on that spot. No dropping and lifting an anchor. Guess it’s my laziness but I don’t want to mess with an anchor and most of the time I am in water to deep to use one. We have a pretty strong current here and the 80 pounds of thrust is enough for the ocean.

Sounds like a nice rig. Glad you can afford it. Wish we all could. Really, I don't mean it in a bad way.
Your rig sounds great. Post a pic. Thanks.

Sorry, The point that I'm trying to make is to make sure the anchor is in the boat when moving. If the anchor is dangling out side of the boat, it will come loose and the anchor will catch on the bottom, the boat will turn very fast ad throw the occupants overbopard.

R Samples is right, secure anchor in boat BEFORE getting under way. The bow of the boat will bounce when under way and rope will snap or release anchor and you will spend some time getting it unwound from your prop !

Don't ask me how I know these things !

Wondered what other people are doing for some kind of boat anchor raising and lowering system. I have a 14' aluminum boat and find it difficult to go from the back of the boat to the front of the boat to raise and lower the anchor. Does anyone use either a manual system or a powered system, winch?

For my 13' Boston Whaler I built a bow sprit out of some teak boards and a roller. I coil the anchor rode in the well ahead of transom. I tie the rode off on the cleat beside me.

I fish out of 14' semi-V and have simple anchor pulley (less than $10 @ Basspro) on bow. It has pulley and then metal eyelet on swivel through which you thread rope. Hold rope at shoulder level to lower anchor and then bring down to seat level once anchor hits bottom. Eyelet locks down on rope and prevents slippage. I fish from back of boat and simply have anchor rope tied off on small cleat i install on back seat. I am 71 years old and easily raise and lower anchor manually from back seat.

Rhoadda1 I like your idea. Simple and effective. I don't have a large battery, so this idea is right down my alley. Thank you.

Yeah it's called an Anchor Ball, they have been in use since the mid 80s. Great way to pull a stuck anchor. Boat power pulls it, and lifts it to the surface. Then you turn around and collect your line, and you only have to lift the anchor from the surface to the deck. Had one on the 28 and the 18.
