Let me preface this by saying, there are many Tree companies still doing cleanup work from last months storms, both local and from out of state.
Last week, while waiting for friends to show up for a motorcycle ride,we were sitting in DD parking lot having a coffee. 2 guys come out and head for their car.1 avg.build,1BIG dude. The big one walks over and starts complementing us on our bikes. Heavy Irish accent, and sounds drunk (@10am). He goes on and on about coming from Ireland, bought a Harley, just became a citizen, working for a tree company from Boston.yadayadayada. After he headed towards the car,he turns and comes back. "By the way,my name is Kevin McBride, and I'm the last guy to beat Mike Tyson ". Yeah, ok buddy, have a good day.
After he left,we're all looking at each other, what do you think? What was his name? Don't remember.CRS. So we google "Last man to beat Tyson " HOLY CRAP, it was him!!!!!!
I can't transfer a link on this old tablet, but Google Last man to beat Tyson. It's true, It's a small world.
Wow thats pretty cool. Now that you met him find out if heβd like to fish with you. Not to sure about the drinking thing though ( my Irish eyes are smiling). If you can ,maybe fishing may be the help he needs. After all he reached out to you maybe a reason. Thanks for your story thats one for the diary

Yeah Neverfish, I think it was "Punch Drunk " affecting his speech. From his years in the ring. He was a really nice guy,and very friendly. We thought at first he was so talkative because he was drinking, but I think it's just from getting his bell rung one too many times. I'm sure he'll be heading back up to Boston, after the work is finished here. Maybe if we ride up that way next season,we'll try and contact him and see if he wants to ride with us.

If he is punch drunk he won't remember you next year. I'm surprised he remembered beating Tyson. I suppose you would remember that though. You should have gotten his autograph.

Hell Fly I would have taken a picture with him, or maybe him sitting on my bike. He didn't ID himself till they were leaving, and we really didn't believe him when he told us. Once we saw his pictures online, we said oh crap we missed an opportunity! Still pretty cool though.

And Tyson tried to break his arm, according to the story I was reading online. It's Boxing, not Wrestling. Never cared for Tyson anyway, and even less now.

Yeah I'm gonna keep my eye out for them. The other guy was driving, a black BMW with Mass plates.
I had an Irishman friend back in the day name of Timothy Michael Sullivan believe it or not. Big strawberry blond guy went about 6 - 6 or 7 and he loved to fight and was damn good at it. His problem was finding anyone willing to go at it with him. If he and Mike had been able to mix it up, Tim and Mike both in their prime, that might have been a sight to behold. None of these Marquis of Queensbury rules, just go at it, anything goes. Somebody woulda got hurt.
The thing with Mike was, he was not a boxer at all. He was all punch. And man could he. But Tim could take punishment with the best of em. We'll never know.
An had you know who this dude was, what would you have done, challenged him to a few rounds? Just Sayin...RJS
