Can somebody tell me - edible or inedible?
My wife believes as a kid she was told to NOT eat these.

I can tell you they are NOT identical to the Wild Grapes they are growing alongside.

Sure wouldn’t want to kill yourself by eating them if not totally sure what they are.
Sure look like choke berries. Have not had them in years and years, but if that's what they are, they are edible. Kinda sour, might give you a tummy ache, but perfectly fine in a pie or jam. Make sure. Where are you at E? Choke berries are more of northern/north eastern thing than south or south west.
Make sure they're not belladonna (deadly nightshade) those berries are also purple, but they have a "crown" around the base of the berry. Like I said - make sure and if you're not 100%, pass em by.

I have learned further since posting.
A Grandson, an Agronomist, advised it is Virginia Creeper. The leaves are probably okay, but the berries are considered POISONOUS, do NOT eat.

As I said earlier, growing along with the Wild grapes, and looking similar.
Stay Safe Out There.

Nope, sorry Egghead, I couldn’t do that to a fellow Stager.
I’m pretty sure I’ve been through Rock Springs, either from Boise to Buffalo, Wy or from several National Parks in Utah to Buffalo. We have a daughter and family near Buffalo.
I don’t remember Rock Springs specifically, but you sure do have some pretty and unusual territory out that way - Tetons, Yellowstone, Sinks Canyon, Thermopolis, Bighorns, Ten Sleep, Crazy Woman Canyon to name a few.
Yep, there's a bunch of beautiful places in Wyoming. I live south of all those places. Here in the desert region, beauty is being able to see for miles, sage brush hills greasewood flats. And lots of animals.

If whoever is brave enough to eat the things besides Egghead and you start having visions and see Jerry Garcia in the clouds talking to you they might be pretty valuable at a GreatFOOL Dead show. If you don't want to see some crazy ..... stuff follow all the good advice here. See what I mean about Egg? He will save all of us.
What a good man.
