A little (or a lot) of redneck in most of us.

Ever notice how a lot of people make fun of red necks till there car breaks down.
Or they're out on the river and they hear banjos.

Or when we used to be able to go to a ball game and hear " Thank God I am a country boy " a lot of toe tapping then.

I still enjoy listening to anything by John Denver.

He did have an un mistakeable voice. No one has ever copied it nor tried. Legends are hard to emulate.

Also being played/sung at my funeral...

That's some pretty stiff competition you're puttin Glenn up against there. And just on that one song. Can you name an artist from the 70s who didn't cover it? Personally, as good as his voice was, he was an even better guitar player. Dude could shred.

Though I used to be able to, I couldn't find a link with Roy Clark singing the original release. They seemed to have been blacked out. I chose Campbell to post as the best of the rest. Yes siree, Glenn could shred a guitar, and he was considered by many to be a guitar god.

Yep another Icon in the industry gone but not forgotten.
I put him in the same class as Jimmy Page and Chet Atkins - a lot of their best work can be heard on other artists recordings, as all three were sought after as studios guitarists. Check out Donovan's "Season of the Witch" on the Sunshine Superman album. That's supposed to be some dude named Don Brown. Listen - it's pure unadulterated Page. And it's so good it almost hurts. Glen was a member of "the wrecking crew", who if you don't know who they were, look em up. Look at what Glen was doing before "Gentle On My Mind". And Chet? What can be said? Did he ever have a hit? But if you listen to any country music that came out of Nashville during the 60s and 70s, that's him.
Glen Campbell:He played with all kinds of genres, with different instrumentation and different styles. If it was a just and righteous world, Glen would be credited as one of the great, seminal influences of all time. He was a secret weapon in the armory of Sixties record producers.

I had looked earlier and couldn’t find Roy singing it either. Soo sad about that. Would have loved to hear it again. Bet I have it on an old LP if I could find them🤣🤣🤣. Couldnt play it - no player any more!😝😝
