This depends on the laws of the jurisdiction being fished. This is called party fishing and is legal in Minnesota. In Ontario, it is explicitly defined as being ILLEGAL and wardens are very skilled with questions designed to root out party fishing.
Follow the law in all cases. Don't need devil's advocacy because every place I've fished defines this.
