I broke an ugly stick at the 2nd eye. I cut off near the eye and trimmed the tip until it would slide inside and then glued together. Its barely noticeable. I know it messed up the action, but its a great trolling rod or dock rod. Makes a cheap spare or loaner rod too

So my fishing rod’s top 20 cm ( like 7 inches ) broke off, is there a way to repair it? Im not planning to fish big fishes, just perch.

I use rod cement because you only hold it together a few seconds and it works very well. On uneven breaks I trim before I attach. The Pearl

I’ve had that happen before and cut the place it broke on the rod even, and sanded it a little, then put another tip guide on using some glue you have to heat. It dries quickly and the only downside is that your rod is 7” shorter.

It is. The glue came with the guides.

Add a new tip and consider it a fast tip rather than an extra fast tip, or whatever. It may become your favorite rod, or not.

New tips and rod glue available at most tackle shops. Just bring the rod in to get the right size. If the rod is splintered down the rod, then chuck it or return it depending on the cause of the break.

How about taking it to a thrift store to find a suitable top section. Or just use the whole pole.

i fixed one of my rods , broke about 7 inches from the top...my rod was hollow in side then i epoxy a plastic sleeve inside , a slip fit....it was about 3 1/2 in. long worked great for me no problams this was about 4 years ago

Yup, whittle a piece of cane/ dowel/ stick/bend a beer can strip into a tube. When I first read the OP I thought some kid just wants to catch some perch. Some of my fondest memories of my son are from when we had some time together fixing his bike, fishing pole, motorcycle,washer/ Audi, Jaguar lol. Amazing what you can repair with some imagination and a kit of JB weld or some superglue and baking soda.

7 inches is a bunch for sure, you could make a trolling rod out of it, if it is heavy enough. Another problem that you are going to run into is to purchase the the right sized tip top. You will have to have a way in which to measure the tip that is remaining. The do sell guides, check out Mudhole.com.

If you have a set if drills you could use the holder to measure the tio size. They bith measure in 64ths. EG 5 64ths is a size 5 tip etc

I never pass up a broken rod from a garage sale or wherever I find it. I use them for repairs.. I will measure my broken rod & cut a piece for a perfect fit, with epoxy, either a piece inside my rod or outside. I have at least an inch & a half on both ends of the break. There is no way the rod will be good as new but the loss of feel & action is really minimal. I've paid good money for a 7 ft rod & somehow get 8 inches broken off the end. I'm going to do whatever I can to salvage a 7ft rod. I'm not going to settle for a $150 or more rod with no flexibility. It works.
