Great Day for Salmon out the Gate

Fished outside the Golden Gate yesterday for salmon aboard the party boat El Dorado 111, out of Berkeley Marina. As you can see fishing was very good. We wound up 5 fish short of limits for 18 fishermen for a total of 31. The ocean was a lot calmer than normal in the morning as they were calling for winds 15 to 25 in the afternoon and NW swells to 8 feet. My two weighed 12 and 23 lbs. Fresh salmon on the grill tonight and will fire up the smoker tomorrow. The only downside was the fires Saw1 has been talking about, called the LNU Complex Fire, burned just north of town and jumped Interstate 80 just a couple miles north of us. They had the interstate closed so had a tough time getting home but made it late but safe. Latest news is the fire is still not contained. Some good friends lost everything including their home. The smoke is all around like a fog and soot on everything.

Hwy. 80 is open and most restrictions lifted. All the burn areas off the highway are still closed because of flareups. Still lots of fire personal around. Once thru Vacaville you should have no troubles. You be safe too.

Wow nice pics! Next time I head out I'm bringing my steelhead pole and some flying C's. I am determined to catch a Salmon/Steelhead this year. I'm gonna have to piss one off from the shore.
I just don't want to spend $ on a charter. I know it's easier, but with a limit of two, that's $125+ a fish. If I don't catch one this year, I am sure I may change my tune about the charters...
Sucks you had friends lose their belongings in these fires, hopefully they get these contained sooner than later.
