Hi guys. I’m going on a fishing trip tommorow and I’m in quite the dilemma. My baitcasting rod won’t fit in my car and my baitcasting rod is 1- piece.

Is it okay if I put my baitcasting reel on a spinning rod ( because all my spinning rods are 2 pieces)?

Yeah I wouldn't either... spinning rods are built with the spine opposite the guides, if you put a baitcaster reel on it you'd be forcing the rod to bend the wrong way... You'll also have problems casting because of the bigger guides on the spinning rod

Legit concerns. But I've done it. Not the end of the world. If you strike a monster you can flip it over and reel in an awkward way but minimize damage to your rod. But, if you snap a rod on a giant you get the cool story and get to buy a new rod..

No. You sure your rod really doesnt fit in your car? I have a pickup truck without even a full cab (just little foldout seats in the back) and I can fit 7'3" (even 7'6" if I bend them a little) rods no problem. Just put the butt of the rod at the passenger side floorboard and the tip up in the rear drivers side corner. Even if this wont work you could just leave a rear window cracked open and stick your bait casting rod through that

Hoss, I would go ahead and use the spinning rod if there's no way to get your regular rod in your vehicle. You might do as another post suggests and that is hold it in the proper position for a spinning rod. And if you catch a whopper and break your rod, think of the great stories, but before giving up, try to pull the monster in hand over hand. Justr Sayin...RJS

Consider what you're going fishing for. Smaller fish - necessity is the mother of invention. Larger fish? Don't bite off more than you can chew. Cram the damned thing in there and careful of the doors.

Or you could just bring your spinning rod and REEL, and fish with that.

You could make a special excuse, and buy a new rod.

Buy a new rod. Once you mount the BC reel on your sp rod you will see why it won’t work

I actually have one that way, caught my PB bass on it too, it does get uncomfortable tho the more cast you make because its not ergonomically designed to be held that way.
