Looking into buying a new trolling motor what is the difference between a bow-mounted trolling motor for a Bass Boat and one made for a Pontoon party boat if any at all.

HOW MUCH & HOW LONG – THE TROLLING MOTOR INSTALL.🎣🐠🐸🕳

If you've considered installing a Minn Kota trolling motor on your present boat, you may find this 25-minute video segment helpful - from parts review, to onboard survey, and ultimately the final installation and pricing.

In recent months, The Fisherman has shared a number of tactical “how to” articles on trolling motors and associated onboard technology (e.g., fish finders and chartplotters) geared towards improving success rates. From pinpointing tautog structure, to fighting wind against tide, even fishing tight to bridge stanchions and docks, the “luxury” of a trolling motor is quickly becoming more of a “necessity” for many local anglers. The big question that many folks have is how – and how much. If you've been considering the addition of a Minn Kota outfit, you may find this 25-minute video segment helpful - from parts review, to onboard survey, and ultimately the final installation and pricing.

That helps out a lot as everything you talk about points to the motor that I am looking at it is just not a I pilot but it is a 112 lb motor with a 60" shaft and I need to shorten the shaft too and fact that the guy told you that it can be done on some motors but not that one helps me out a lot.

That 112 lb thrust motor is 36 volt & requires 3 deep cycle batteries. Also, the cable from the batteries to the motor must be 6 gauge wire. If you're using an existing battery storage make sure you can fit 3 batteries there. It's important to use 6 ga
wire to prevent overheating & possible fire. If the 36 volt is an upgrade I guarantee you that the existing wiring isn't 6 ga. I called minn kota & found that out. also, you must remember your main engine starting battery. That's 4 large batteries & that's a lot of weight. I would recommend you get an on board 3 bank battery charger for your trolling batteries. Bass Pro has some decent ones for well under $200. That way all 3 batteries are charged at the same time. I cut the shaft down on a 55 lb thrust trolling motor to work on a canoe. It worked fine. I do wish the shaft could have been shortened on the 60 inch 72 lb motor. Good luck.
