Man, I am with you on that here in California, I have been out about7 or 8 times and skunked about half. My big take is 2 Rainbows 1 Bass and 4 or 5 little Bluegills, for my license that cost me about $70 bucks! I am going back to my home state of Minnesota next week, and will catch more fish in one outing there than iwill catch all season here!
Hey Dale, where do you live in Cal? Put it in your profile so we can remember. Thanks buddy.
Hey where you said you fished off hiway 70, is that the river out of Camp Far West?
Roseville! I am up at Tahoe right now and went to Blue Lakes yesterday and it skunked again!

Wow. I have a house in So. Lake Tahoe. We usually go up there for a lot of the summer, but not this year.
What did you use for bait at Blue Lakes?
We always had good luck using power bait or nightcrawlers.
Caples Lake is another good choice.
How long you gonna be up there?
You also live really close to Spirit, he lives in Lincoln.
Maybe we could all get together sometime and wet a line.
Good luck up at Tahoe.
By the way, how's the weather up there and the air quality? Steve.
Years ago, I got disgusted by the fish seldom biting, but since I was a SCUBA diver I decided to buy a spear gun and go in after them. Often I'd dive with my Brother, and he'd tease me because he got considerably bigger fish than I did. I responded that I was just proving that I was a better shot than he was.
Now I'm too old for SCUBA diving off the California coast, if I dive again it'll be on a party boat in clearer and warmer water than we have here. Besides, my wet suit has shrunk a lot. (THAT'S MY STORY, AND I'M STICKIN' WITH IT!)

I do appreciate the positive energy. And I always think positive when ever I think about fishing, especially the night before and out on the water. I swear it makes all the difference in the world. Just not this F****D up year. I can't wait for 2020 to be in my rear view mirror.
Hey Spirit, have you tried using raw oysters? I sandwich my oysters with beef rawhide pieces so the oyster doesn't come off the hook as easily.

Good one. Don't feel too bad. My rod has not twitched once this year. Last fish I caught was right before last Christmas. Just keep practicing that cast.
only way to keep from getting skunked is to stay home but if you do that you miss out on enjoying a day out better to be skunked than stay home and pout

1000% correct. If you ‘have to catch’ do not go.

But it was a nice one to end the year on.
Anything would beat this stinking year. When it starts cooling off, I’m going no matter what the 🦠 is doing. Just sayin...

IF and WHEN this virus gets better to the point we can get together more safely, I'm gonna go over to Spirits house with my boat so we can go out someplace and catch fish. I promise.
Saw I really hope something happens that you can help Spirit out. And Spirit doesn't even cry about that 200 lb skunk hanging on him. Wow. I wish I could help him out. But I can't get him to Florida.

Yeah, that is a problem.
Hopefully we'll be able to get together soon, but I'm not holdin my breath.

This year has sucked. From the messed up way they handled trout season here in Pa, to the heat, the corona bs this is one of the worst if not the worst ever year for fishing for me. The only thing I've caught in the last month I caught tonight, a 4" bluegill.

These were caught yesterday, 8/19/20 with my buddy who started making his own twister tail grubs. He brought out 10 different color combinations and we caught fish on 9 out of 10 of them. He Hope's to make them and sell them. The pic is proof that they work.
It was a good afternoon.
57 fish and 5.25 pounds of fillets.
