Anchor for small row boat (8 foot)

You know, on an eight foot boat you could connect a trolley anchor. It’s used on kayaks so after I drop anchor I can move the kayak by pulling on the trolley to keep the yak positioned down wind. Here’s what the kit looks like.

I used a three pound plastic coffee can with an eye bolt and concrete. The plastic can skin stops scratching.

Cut the top off of a gallon jug to use as a mold. Put part of a 3' piece of chain into the mold or use an eye bolt with large washers and fill with fence post cement. Hook the chain to the eye bolt. The chain makes the anchor pull to the side and grab. Anchors with prongs will hang up on brush and you wont get them back with a small boat. It will probably weigh about 5 lbs. I lost several anchors until I made a couple of these and never lost another one.


That's what I use for my boat.
