I do some fishing in a small lake with a smaller boat. Looking for an anchor (size/weight, brand) that would be good to just hold myself in place from the wind so i dont have to keep moving back from the shore every 2 casts

I tied a 2 foot piece of chain I had laying around to some cord. Works well, maybe 2-3 lbs.

I have two on my jon boat that are set up on a reel system. Love this setup. In the past though with a different small boat I used to use a half of a cinder block and 20 or so feet of paracord. Free and effective.

Stay away from mushroom anchors they are a real pain to pull up. West Marine most likely has what you are after as far size and styles.

I rigged the front and back of my kayak with a couple 2 lb fishing weights. Works good in low wind levels to keep me from drifting or spinning around a single line.

Some chain at the Anchor helps it stay anchored. I like having 2 anchors onboard. You spread them away from each end of boat but 2 anchors will hold boat from spinning around on the one especially in the wind.

When I fish a small lake in my jon boat I just use a couple of old window sash weights. One in front and one in back. Works great. Also works for my canoe if not in heavy current.

Try a small mesh laundry bag. Put in stones as needed. Use para cord to secure.

Cut the top off of a gallon jug to use as a mold. Put part of a 3' piece of chain into the mold or use an eye bolt with large washers and fill with fence post cement. Hook the chain to the eye bolt. The chain makes the anchor pull to the side and grab. Anchors with prongs will hang up on brush and you wont get them back with a small boat. It will probably weigh about 5 lbs. I lost several anchors until I made a couple of these and never lost another one.

I use a three pound weight for my kayak. It holds real good. It can be tied so it wonโ€™t ever get stuck. I got it at Academy. About $15

A small boat like yours will not require much. Even in 30 mile an hour winds you will stay anchored with about 7 to 10 pounds. Google anchor charts for more ideas.

Not lifting weights any more so I use a five pound dum bell weight. For a 10 ft kayak.
