We are headed to the Big Blue tomorrow out of Marina Pez Vela Quepos. I’ve gone out several times with this charter. Never missed yet. That says as much about the fishery as it does the charter, however these guys know their stuff.
I asked to target tuna. Here that would be Yellowfin. I’d also like to do some bottom fishing for snapper. And a Dorado would be nice. Looking for meat on this trip. 😊
You don’t have to go far to get into the deep. The Continental Shelf is close to shore in this part of the Pacific.
I’ll send a report with pictures.
BTW, Pez Vela is Spanish for Sail Fish. I’ve been blessed to have caught several fishing out of this location.

Grinanriprod: You live in a sportsman's paradise. I've been there one time. We flew over to the Atlantic side and fished for 4 days at the mouth of the Colorado River for Tarpon. Caught several, fishing with a lead lure called the "coonpop" by bouncing it on the bottom and drifting. The depth was between 30 and 40 feet. If the fish we hooked jumped we were happy because it was a tarpon, no jump, it was a Jack. Great trip and great fishing. Just Sayin...RJS

The camp is right on the bank of the river and is elevated about 5 feet above the land due to flooding. They said there was a momma Crocadile living under the kitchen.

One day, I had a guide take me into the rivers and jungle to attempt to catch a snook,or ribalo. We only were able to catch one about 1 lb. but it was a snook. There were some interesting sights in the jungle. Once a group of Militia came passed in a zodiac type boat, and another time a larger boat loaded to the gunnels with sacks of coconuts. Our wake actually put water over the top, I just hoped they had a bilge pump to keep them from sinking. i was told there was a canal 90 miles long that ran parallel to the Ocean down to a town some distance away. Lots of beautiful sights in your country, including the volcano! Just Sayin...RJS

Hey if you can make it down here, PM me.
Unfortunately, right now the country is open only to flights from Madrid and Frankfurt. No saying when flights from the US will be allowed.

¡Thank you, Gripnriprod! Reckon I'd better not allow that thought, to distract either one of us, / "the task @ hand", y just see how this CoVid situation "shakes out". Maybe by the Winter of 2021-2022 (if the Lord's willing & the creek don't rise) I'd be capable of getting myself down in your direction, {at least} somewhere. (Been "thinking about" Costa Rica, since National Geographic ran an article about it, way back in the 70's or 80's!)
