I got tired of sleeping in my easy chair because we had no power for my C-PAP, and no oxygen concentrator So last fall i had a 22 KW natural gas gen installed because I already had NG so no driving to store for gas, diesel or propane.

Even with the snow and ice?

The last time we lost power from a winter storm,it wasn't winter. We had a Blizzard on Halloween nite. It was wet snow, almost 2ft deep. It stuck to the leaves on the trees, and brought down many, even healthy ones. Ice storms are usually spotty, and the outages are too. 3yrs ago we had 3 tornadoes touch down and did a lot of damage, but in a limited area. That used to be very rare for us, but getting more common lately. We had 1 small one Tuesday.

Nope talked myself out of that too. But we're on line now! We probably average 1 power failure every 3-5yrs. I plan on retiring in a year and a half. Within 6 months after that I'll be out of this God forsaken state! LAST ONE OUT, DON'T FORGET TO TURN THE LIGHTS OFF!!!!

18 months to go that sue sounds familiar Fred. For me that was just as bad as being in the service. Tick Tock Tick Tock one click at a time.

So where are you headed that the power stays on, the wind doesn't blow you to the skies, the water doesn't wash you down stream or the ground doesn't open up below your feet while you are sleeping? Or are you keeping it a secret so we all don't follow you there?

Apparently my internet is still a little wacky. I know that there's nowhere to escape all the assorted weather issues, but at least find a place I can AFFORD to retire, and doesn't want to take all my money and give it to someone else. Usually who has never worked for it,or illegal aliens, or state employees health care for life after 20 or 25yrs. I've been working for 46 years and all I'll get is Medicare, plus what I have to pay for. So right now it looks like I'll be your neighbor to the south. I'll be hanging out with Farmboy and Bucky in Murrells Inlet SC.

We were leaning towards Delaware and Florida has its tax advantages as. But wifey wants to be closer to her boys in Maryland and i don't want neighbors on top of me. Going to be a tough decision where to live if this house we are in ever sells.

A Motor home sure sounds good.

Come on down Fred. Murrells inlet is only about an hour and a half away. We'll go fishing.

I've got a few friends that moved down there,a couple years ago,and they love it. I was planning on coming down for a week or 2 this fall by the virus, and missing a lot of work put the brakes on that plan. So next year sometime, maybe in the spring,we'll see.

Yes it does,to me,not the wife. Florida is cheaper to live, but too hot and humid in the summer, beautiful in the winter though. I figured SC is about equal distance from peeps up here, and peeps in Fla.

Yeah Gordon, I figured far enough away from Myrtle Beach, to avoid some of the tourist traffic. Go a little ways inland away from any storm surge. Still be close to the ocean, but with some good lakes around. So that's the plan at this point in time. You know how that goes though.
