Well, no stripers today. Did manage to catch 1 small bat ray bout 8 pounds. Bout 22 inches across and had a barb of 3 or 4 inches on his tail.
For bout 15 min. we thought it might be a 10 pound striper. Finally netted the little guy and got him unhooked and released. Glad he wasn't any bigger, we might still be out there tryin to land it. I was usein a pole that I coulda bass fishes with.
Maybe halibut fishin Tues, we'll see.

That's why it took so long to land him. Brad didn't realize he still had the 10 pound leader on instead of straight braid, and I didn't want to break the leader.

Stripers should be showing in SF Bay near Treasure Island. Also used to get a good bite off of Mission Rock but moved to Santa Rosa so have not hit the SF Bay in awhile but plan too later this month. Am not a favorable fisher during full and new moons. Tides too pushy for a halibut bite. I caught an electric ray several years ago. Darkish green. When I was unhooking it to release I got a jolt in my hand and looked all over the boat wondering if I had a short of some kind … then duh … picked up on it that it was the fish … so I put my hand back onto it to see how long I could last and no way could I keep the my hand there. I called the aquarium to ask about it and the biologist was upset that I did not bring it in he wanted to put on display. Where are you fishing? I'll be fishing near Alameda and for halibut near the Bay Bridge...am new here but will post as the season gets going. Tight lines....wally
