You guys haven’t met The Utah Fish & Game boys. I’m sure they would figure out a way to get you for barfing over the side. Polluting the waters or something. Great bunch of conniving people they are. Corn had been cut for weeks with a few rows left because it was too muddy to cut. Set geese decoys out and the first shot they were accusing us of baiting. We took pics of all the deep tractor ruts trying to get it cut and the judge threw it out. But they sure tried.

They could TRY, and probably would, but unless it's some kind
of toxin or otherwise proven harmful to fish and/or water plants, I seriously doubt that
they could find a legal leg to
stand on ! Feces might be a problem, but undigested food
and stomach fluids are natural
and bio-degradable, so they'd be hard-pressed to prove any harm
or damage to the environment !

Used to do Meyer's hole in the back end of Barnegat inlet with my granddad. Not many around. I think the take limit is 1.

we fished great bay, grassy channel , number 2 bouy humps, mouth of the mullica, hollgate inlet rips. to name a few of course the famous stink house. always used a 1/2 yellow and white bucktail with a strip of squid . this was deadly on fluke and weakies. we would also look for snapper blues on the way out .favorite was a trolling a small kastmaster. on a wire leader. we would rent a skiff out of tuckerton or oyster creek. 9.9 evenrude. so slow that the green heads would eat you up if you didnt have cutter. bug spray. circa: 1975-1984. stripers were not common during this time. but i hear they have made a come back and are being caught regulary.

I was usually up the bay around Forked River. My granddad lived in Sunrise beach and early we rented one of those rowboats and later he bought an old school Garvey and the 24 foot Gray . I learned how to run a boat around the D and E buoys and 66 buoy as well as catching tons of blowfish. I'd run the boat home while he cleaned the blows. Caught my PB flounder there at 9.5#.

Cubsfan and Flytier: Winter flounder fishing has vanished in NJ. Used to get them starting mid-March, party boats from as far away as Brooklyn would come down the Shrewsbury River and customers would be happy with their catch. Most anglers attribute the decline to commercial draggers which wiped out the breeding stock.
No bluefish the last 3 years meaning no blitzes. Plenty of snappers each August but don't know where they go.
Stripers are available. Plenty of fluke but the size limit is 18 inches minimum in NJ and 19 in NY. Weakfish? What are they?

I still mostly fish Jersey ( LBI) for surf. Been fishing that beach for 60 plus years. Grew up running around Barnegat bay running my granddads boat. My main fishing grounds are from Belmar to Great Egg, then take a jump to the Outer Banks.

Oh yeah. The days of the tide runners. Had one night out near the #1 buoy. After my BIL got seasick and my nephew fell asleep I had 18 fish the smallest was a 12 pound blue, then an 18 pound weakie, topped with a 25 pound black drum.

What a night! Weakfish were a big deal . If you caught one over 5 lbs in great bay ? That was good talk . Delaware Bay has the big Weakies . I guess the depth and proximity to the ocean . Ever Fish Bug Light?
I found a school of them outside the inlets one day . I filled a trash bag . 1-5 lbs . All on bucktails . My best day .

I spent most of my time between Mia Maull and Brandywine shoals. Never got up as far as Bug Light. I did hit the ruins off up by the oyster beds by Fortescue. That trip is a whole nother story.

That is a nice speck. I think my best was 4.1 out of the surf at Oregon inlet.
