Hi from a newcomer to this site. I live in Coarsegold, CA, and we're planning to move to the Russellville, AR area as soon as we sell our house. I'm interested in finding out where in that area to go to fish for white bass--my favorite freshwater fish. Any suggestions?

Hello Drjim: Well, congratulations on leaving CA for AR. Sorry that I know so little about fishing there, but expect it will be a blast to explore and enjoy. White Bass, or sand bass, are plentiful in almost all the lakes in the South and have generous limits. You find them you can catch them. We fished a lot in Texoma and the rule there was "how many to you want to clean?" Just Sayin...RJS

Welcome Drjim. Not sure how many Razorback members FS has but stayed tuned, you may get some suggestions.

Welcome to the stage drjim. You're moving from the middle of nowhere to right on the Arkansas River. Don't know a thing about white bass. Do we even have those in California?

DrJim: I suspect you are aware of a time warp in this and will take some adjustments. Keep us informed and pictures of your catch would be nice! Just Sayin...RJS

Thanks, Robert. I first learned of white bass from my brother, who was stationed in Wichita Falls, TX. He fished in Texoma and told me many tales of them and the big catfish there. I finally fished for them in Elephant Butte Lake in NM--and I am hooked. Besides being fun to catch, the filets are great eating!

They've been stocked in Lake Nacimiento. I caught one there the last time I fished it.

Welcome drjim. Hope you like our forum & contribute some good pics & bs. You'll love Russellville. It's right on interstate 40 & about an hour west of Little Rock. There is a Nuclear Power plant just west of Russellville & one of the best fishing lakes, Lake Dardanelle, on the Arkansas River. Yes, it's an impoundment of the Arkansas. It's clearer than some of the lakes upriver. The bass fishing is good, there's lots of white bass & about anything you want to catch besides trout. Striper fishing below the dam is really good & so is the catfishing. There is world class trout fishing in the White River just north a ways.

Thanks Doc. I have never fished Nacimiento although I've sure heard about it and I have some buddies who have fished it. It has stripers in it too I believe?

Thanks, bottomcoon. I was hoping I'd find that there are white bass in Dardanelle. We'll be very close to the lake. I'll probably try the striper fishing in the Arkansas River, also.
