My brother-in-law fishes there all the time. He usually outfishes all his buddies who guide up there. Fishes off a float tube about 90% of the time. The guides don't like to fish near him when they have clients. Been closed during this whole pandemic thing.

IDK that. Sounds like you got some pretty good inside info yourself.

You live down there where the water gets really warm. I've never fished in So. Cal. It would be totally different than fishin up here. Same principal and technique but fish behavior will be different.

Be fun though! One of my favorite things about fishing, is going to new lakes.

Metered 3 large schools in the 20-40 foot range with some big fished mixed in. Could not get them to take anything. Water temp is 78 degrees, with clear water. Any ideas from you folks?

Thanks

OBG,I haven't tried it in years, but try vertically jigging a spoon. Chrome used to work back in the day.
Good Luck.

I pestered a school stacked in from 35 to 40 feet in my home lake. Surface temp was close to 90 degrees. I had tried everything & finally put a night crawler on a jig head & tossed it in. I had immediate success & boated a 3 pound drum. I threw the drum back & rebaited but immediately caught another drum. I decided that the school was probably all drum. It sure looked good on the locator. good luck & tight lines.

I've always wanted to try an old trick of putting several minnies in a jar suspended on a spare line then cast a single minnie close by like a straggler. Anyone here did that one and how did you do? Guess it beats underwater explosives

I've heard that minnow in a jar works, never tried it. I had an old uncle that crappie fished in a belly boat. He would jig around the banks & brush till he caught one. He would then tie a line with a cork on the end around that crappie & turn it loose. His theory was the crappie would return to the school & stay with it. All he had to do was follow the cork around & catch all the fish he wanted. He did catch a lot of crappie.j
