Well,,,,,,,,,,, Mike, if they were 5/0 trebles with the lead on they would be a salmon snagging hook. They are a snagging hook for either a big fish or a body. (LOL)

It's too early to figure out the word.

That's what I use for snagging bunker for bait. And the magic word is minnow. It can also be used to snag and drop bunker for stripers from a boat

Snagging hook for Carp. Tie a small hook above it with a dough ball on it. When you get a nibble snatch.

Is it legal to snag them? Can you use a 10/0 hook? A long time ago, like in the '70s, we could snag salmon from Lake Superior and Lake Mich. using a 5/0 treble hook, but now it is illegal

I don't believe there is a regulation as to hook size but there is a separate snagging season for them when the spawn is in full swing.

Used to use them to snag carp below the dam here. I keep one in my tackle box to retrieve things like dropped dip nets, etc. Retrieved my 3 year old's fishing pole one time many years ago.

You're really good with one of them then Iowa. I could scarcely get them into the same place twice in a row.
