I am taking this pandemic one day at a time. I have three masks in the truck. I hope that by the time of the meet and greet that it has played itself out. But if I am standing in Walmart and somebody is coughing near me I'm hoping that there's that 6-foot distance and that they are wearing a mask as well. I think we owe it TO EACH OTHER to wear the masks to prevent me from infecting you or you from infecting me. Wearing a mask is a small price to pay for protecting your life. One vector for transmission is spit. My mask will keep most of my spit to me. My mask will prevent your spit from me. The air around you will NOT stop the possibility of transmission by microscopic germs in microscopic spit. Washing hands was proven to be a barrier to infection transmission during the 1800s by doctor/scientists Koch, Lister, Semmelweis, Leeuwenhoek and Pasteur. People, then, were unconvinced that hand-washing helped deter germs and disease transmission. Today doctors/scientists are saying masks will help deter the germs and disease transmission. People now are unconvinced that masks will help...those people are on the same side as those who thought hand washing was quackery. Mask wearing is a small price to pay.

As has been stated on the Stage before, there's a large part of the world that thinks nothing of it. Even if it only increased your chances of staying healthy by half it's still an increase in your chances of staying jealthy.

Yeah, you are RIGHT, WH; I won't go through the door (or even answer the door) without my nose & mouth covered.
My mom had a good, powerful microscope, when I was a kid. I have SEEN all manner of live animals that none of us can see/ "the naked eye".

So much h of the unknown down my father always said it's better to have and not need than to not have and need so if one feels it's needed use it or if not then you are taking a chan e of hurting your self as well as others therefore stay home is my answer

Well put and we wear mask and limit unneeded trips.

Now that you have owned up to being an RN, hats off to you and the rest of the medical profession.

Also people like gh that have to be in different places that could be a petri dish.

Well put WH. We have seen this response by some people to other things that people just accept now as part of life in our society.

Don't tell me I have to wear a seat belt, that I can't smoke inside a public building, the list goes on and on.

I saw a story on the face shields that also provide protection. They aren't directly touching your nose and face. It's also easier to understand people when they are talking. Just another option.

During WW II, people came together to work for a common cause in this country. Whatever it took, people chipped in to defeat the enemies to our freedom.

The question is, how many people have to get sick or die, for people to figure out this is serious? Will people get it?

Most states in Australia are on lockdown with an upsurge of the virus, My daughter there is a police officer and Melbourne is on lockdown for the next 6 weeks, other parts of the country are on restrictions. No matter what we do its going to resurface until it runs its course.

WH is right on. Coming from the medical profession myself I can tell you that these infection control protocols are tried and true. Besides preventing the flu, you are also preventing other communicable diseases like the common cold and TB. Prevention works in the operating room as well as out in public. Nothing to it, just do it!

The main area that caused the shutdowns again is north end of Melbourne, high rise tenements, they are only allowed out for exercise, food is being provided for them. There are a lot of low income apartments there. Other lockdown areas can only move in their own suburbs. No one country has beat this yet, even China has been covering up the resurgence
