Grandson and I went out to the pond. Caught half a dozen small bass, 3 nice bluegill and some small crappie. I put a 5 inch crappie out for cat and Caught the 2.1lb 16 inch bass. You could still see the tail of the crappie in it's throat.

They sent a picture this morning of a very wet campground. Thunderstorm at 5AM. Son of another daughter.

Hi Mr. Iowa Farmer,

It appears the duckweed didn’t slow you down at all.

The duckweed made it almost impossible to throw a jig. All of those were caught under a bobber.

Looks like you need to talk to your soil and water guys about putting in a bio-reactor ahead of your pond I hear they work well according to our folk here locally. Just wondering if you ever get to the Ox Yoke Inn in Amana for thier jaeger schnitzel. We try to get up that way each year to sample wine and beer plus hit up the smokehouse for some of thier great smoked pork chops. Last year we were there for Octoberfest and really had a good time. Got sidelined there for a bit.
You really should try to lower the amount of nitrogen getting into your pond. As said soil and water people in your county can help.
Nice fish you'd caught though!!!

I have a settling pond above the main pond, not much ag land drainage mostly unimproved pasture and timber ground.

Always went to the Colony Inn, until the owner died a few years ago. Hasn't been the same since. Usually try to make it there at least once a year or so, only about 30 miles away.
