I live in California and other places. I'm a good looking fish if I do say so myself. I'm pretty tasty too. I like swimming around rocks in the jetties and the kelp beds.

Well I lived and fished in San Diego for about 25 years and I've actually caught a few of those, so I'll be still. Except to say that they are not particularly easy to catch cause they like to feed on moss and algae. What's a good bait? We used to use frozen peas.

No need to be still.
Your right on all that you said.
Peas work along with small pieces of shrimp.
I'll say what it is tomorrow for others who may want to play.

It is a certain type of girella ( there are only about 20 different kinds ) but that's not what they're known as in SoCal.

Well, Hoss. If it is a new species, or even a sub species, and you've discovered it you can name it, virtually any thing you like. However, I doubt that its that new. Just Sayin...RJS

Morning all,
Spirit must of done some rerearch he's right. I'm going with the common name used here. Opaleye, I never heard them call a rudder fish here.
Here's the info on them.
They have blue eyes, hence the name.

Larry, kinda looks like a Tilapia. I’m probably wrong, but it won’t be the first or last time.
