I set up this shot to show the various types of crank bait lips. Anyone know the lure names?
I'm not a bass fisherman Mike and those don't look like they were designed to catch trout. But that top one in the middle kinda looks like a craw pattern, I'll bet a trout would hit it. And that one at the bottom middle on the left kinda looks like pin's minnow - I've caught some nice sized trout on one of those.
The top center plug is a trout pattern and the one on the right center is a bomber plug in brown crawdad.
I was bass fishing' with friends at Lake Tulloch (below New Melones) about 20 years ago and we were thrown' some shallow diving plugs at the shoreline and the only things we could catch were rainbow trout. Go figure!
Well they like to eat fish too. Specially the browns. They're a lot more picky than the bows.
Geomike,
Scorchy here, had to take a pic.
From the top rt. side blue is a Magnum Wiggle Wart, Just below going clock wise is crawdad Model A Bomber, on down clock wise, blue shad deep diving Bagley's with the next also Bagley's hot tiger color possible kill'er B.
At left top jerk bait shallow made Rapala, counter clock wise and down, also jerk bait shallow, next down crank bait manuf. can't tell and last bottom left jerk bait shallow, I can't remember the manuf. but some years past the selling point of one that looked like that was it was wood but not balsa but jeulong (sp) wood.
Hope this helps some
Gluck,
Scorchy
Hi Scorchy. You got most of 'em. If memory serves, starting on the upper left are two jerk baits one is a Rapala as you say and I think the other might be a Berkeley. The top center one is a Bomber Smilin' Minnow in rainbow trout pattern. You got the Wiggle Wart by Storm and the Bomber Model B Crawfish. Then there are 3 Bagley's in a row - Fat Cat in blue mackerel, Mama Cat in fire tiger and a Mullet in silver/black. The last one I think is a Cotton-Cordell in shad. Thanks and hope you had fun. More to come.
morning Geomike,
You are prolly right on others they sound like saltwater colors and lures. I have done very little saltwater fishing.
I have enjoyed all in the past. Thx

Hi Scorchy. Pretty much all of these are freshwater except maybe the Bagleys' Fat Cat in blue mack. that I often used this back trolling for salmon and steelhead in rivers. Hope you had fun. I will be posting more.
