Thought I would post some pics. Only kept 1 fish bout a pound and a half for dinner. Partner caught 2 nice smallies but the wind was howlin and I didn't take pics of them. Some of the lake and 1 of this momma Merganser with 20 babies. I've NEVER seen anything with that many babies. 20 of them. Prolly can't see them in the pic though.

Love the beautiful scenery you have to go with the fishing. The 20 babies were pretty cool also. Nice fish by the way. I haven't been out in 3 weeks. This weekend going small mouth on the Susquehanna River on maryland and Pennsylvania border . Can't wait

Took some looking but I found them near shore. Merganser is big at adopting another mother ducks brood, Usually around 10 ducklings so the other mother will lay another clutch of eggs. I have've commonly seen an individual mother looking out for as many as 50 babies, and sometimes as many as 80. It's a real treat watching them feed along the shore. They literally run on top of the water, driving small minnows and then if as on cue, the all dive in to gobble up the fish.

Wow, IDK that. I've seen a mother with 13 of her own babies but this is the first time I've seen one with 20.

Nice fish Steve, I sure know how you feel getting blown around. But you gotta admit, may only be 1 fish, but it sure smells better than skunk!

I've seen guys fish with their spinning reel on top of their rod, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone fish with their round reel on the bottom. Is there any good reason for that?
