Has anyone tried this? Berkley is promoting it as "the next generation in fishing line". Not a mono, not a braid, molecularly bonded dyneema. I just bought 150 yards of it for my C3 round reel. Anybody got an opinion?

Seen the adds for it but the shelves are bare at Sportsman’s Warehouse and Cabelas. Kinda like the grocery stores at the beginning of the covid scare.

Sorry Spirit, I've heard about it and seen it advertised but have never used it myself. Let me/us know what you think of it after you use it. Thanks.

Hi Chief. I have been using Berkeley Nanofil for several years now and I am mostly happy with it. It is kind of like a micro-braid. It behaves more like a braid than a monofilament line. It is a very fine line for its' strength rating and casts a country mile. It out casts other lines by 25% or more and is smooth. It also has much less line twist than mono lines. The only fault is that its' abrasion resistance is lower than other lines and because it is a finer diameter tends to fray and break more easily. I've lost big fish because they run over rocks, abrade the line and cause break offs. Hope this helps.

I got some about a month ago. If I remember correctly, I found it really necessary to tie some mono leader so that I could tie on my tackle. My fingers don’t work as well as they used to.

They (berkley) say it's even thinner. I bought the heaviest they make, which is 17#, just so I can see it to tie a knot.

Yeah Spirit, I've been using it on my 2 spinning rods. 12lb with a 12lb Vanish leader on the MH rod, and 8lb with an 8lb Berkley 100%XL Floro leader on the M rod. They both cast at least 25% farther than mono. They have no memory, and transmit light hits very well. Using an unweighted soft jerkbait, I was feeling hits on a slack line. It is kinda slick,so make sure your knots are good. This is my 3rd year and I'm happy so far.

Spirit, I've also been using it for a few years on two of my spinning reels. I use it with a fluorocarbon leader. I favor it for two special situations. I like it for my Duo Realis spybaits because of the long casting distance. These baits do well with a long retrieve. Secondly I like it for weightless wacky senkos. Once again I think it gives me a bit more distance and especially I like to be able to see the line move as the senko falls. If it tics just a bit sideways I set the hook. I suspect you will end up doing something similar. It won't replace your braid but you will keep it on a couple of outfits.
