Bottomcoon mentioned Worksharp--I have one and love it! Can set different edge angles and will sharpen just about anything!

thanks- I seem headed in that direction. Do you use the attachement for handsfree operation and added flexibility?

I use an electric Chef's Choice 3-wheel diamond sharpener. I've used all the others and most of them are a pain in the patooddy and some of them will even destroy your blades (like those "X" rod sharpeners). The Chef's Choice was recommended by America's Test Kitchen or some similar cooking show. I use it for all my Henkel kitchen knives and for every other knife I have. The only thing I don't sharpen with it are serrated edge blades. But I just don't sharpen those anyway.

I can sharpen any knife in just a couple of minutes or less and give it a razor's edge at the proper angle because of the way the sharpener works. All the filings are collected with a magnet, and set up is easy - plug it in, turn it on, sharpen your knives, done. It even puts a razor edge on seriously dull knives.

I use the suggested guides for knives and scissors. Used it freehand once for some pruning shears. Overall, very happy with it.

I had a black handled Buck hunting knife back in the 70's that no one could put an edge on. Gave it to several folks who claimed they knew what they were doing, they all gave it back dull as I gave it to them. Finally ended up giving to the King of Enewetak.

.I had one of them in the 70s also they just didn't sharpen... I can put a edge on a knife you can shave with, but not that one..also several people tried and couldn't do it.. Buck did a lot of advertising back then ..I do have a folding Buck knife with a titanium handle that is awesome. I can sharpen it and it olds a edge .I use it mostly for deer and wild hogs

A lifetime of fishing has seen me go through a whole lot of knives. I think a lot of them would still be excellent IF I could get them sharpened correctly. I look at lots of sharpener ads, have tried several but so far nothing lives up to the hype. If you have a go-to knife sharpener, please post the name of it, preferably with a photo of it, and describe how you use it and how it works. Not looking for a little pocket sharpener. Want something substantial, long lasting, good with fishing and hunting knives but also with high quality kitchen knives. Help if you can, please.....
