Rattletraps. I use them when Spanish Mackerel run in the gulf. Chase the gulls and cast into the boils. I use both silver and gold with black backs. Also use weighted red hooks with shrimp while anchored. Both work well when the runs are on. That's me at the cleaning station in the straw hat. Cleaned, kept on ice and ate for 3 days. I made jerky with the rest.
I have never had fish jerky. This is the first time I ever even heard of it. Got to be real careful with this forum or you learn something every day!!!

Agreed, I have made my own beef, venison and wild turkey jerky, and have tried wild goose which is pretty good, too.

Yep. And even more laughs when the “victim” realizes he/she has been spoofed. Hehe

Rattle traps. I use them a bunch for walleye, bass and pikeminnow. Silver with a blue back and red eyes works the best for what I catch out of the Columbia and Snake rivers.

Looks like the original Wortens? Rat-L-Trap. I have 2,chrome /blue,and a red/black, and 2 other brand imitation. Have caught a couple bass, and a pickerel over the years, but not many.

The silver blue back is a good one for speckled trout and red fish on a falling tides in coastal waters.

I find the responses interesting. Is this one of those lures that sits in the box until the fishing just plain sucks? "Oh well, nothing else works so I will try this". When it doesn't work either, it gets thrown back into the box. I ask this, as I have personally unfairly given it that roll. I do not remember switching to it when the fishing was good, or starting my day with it. It is time for me to give it a fair chance as soon as I can get to some decent bass lakes. RTKF
