I heard Nebraska has plenty of pheasant and quail. What else could a man want? Certainly not a young house keeper that means to really keep your house, RJS.

Did y'all know that pheasant were also imported from CHINA. How 'bout we let 'em keep their viruses from now on?

I moved to Oregon in '84, from Kansas(not unlike Nebraska, just a different latitude)...tired of the flat terrain and muddy rivers, warmwater fish species, the humidity in the summer and sunny winter days that never get out of the single digits and yes, the tornadoes (been through two, one damaged barn and outbuildings, spared the house).
Don't HATE the Midwest, also don't MISS IT. Good people I miss seeing regularly, good beef I miss seeing being produced (and ending up on my grill !), but the list is short.
I now live in a place that people spend their valuable vacation time coming to. The rivers are clear, the mountains are majestic, the ocean is just over an hour away, the forests are awesome.....and we have SALMON , STEELHEAD AND TROUT, to boot. To each his/her own, but I would have to have a REALLY WEALTHY supermodel pursue ME, to coerce me into living in the Midwest again, and I still have property there.... nice to visit, always glad to get back to Oregon, when I do venture east.
I'll stop gushing about Oregon and dissing the Midwest, but I leave this for you to ponder & my apologies in advance to DBEd and Bottomcoon.......... it's just something I have heard since childhood ! Lol !

The name "Kansas" comes from the native American tribe, the "Kanza", the "People of the Wind".
So... the question is......Why IS Kansas so very windy ??

EASY ANSWER.....
Because Oklahoma BLOWS and Nebraska SUCKS !!!

Hey now, calm down.....I SAID I WAS SORRY !!! LOL !

I will say "I'm sorry" before I write this. It is not meant to say that everything east of the Pacific Ocean is bad!!!

As a kid I met some folks from the east. They moved west because they didn't like some things about the east. (New York State, somewhere) After hearing their complaints, watching cowboy shows on TV and a variety of other things, I decided that the east was not for me. I know a little better now, but I have a saying:

I never travel east, I just always come from the west.

I've been to Oregon twice. A beautiful place, no doubt. I could easily live there, but that is true of many places. If I had to leave the US, I would move to British Columbia Canada. Almost as good as Oregon.

Agree with the above, volfman. Also agree totally with the B.C. comparison (my favorite place on the planet is Lake Louise). Maintaining contact with friends in B.C. and Alberta, both. Might have to consider an extended "visit" there.... we'll just have to see how this November goes,....started a fund with my $1200 allotment, for just that purpose !

What fixorfish said. I'm two hours from the coast and maybe an hour from the Sierra Nevadas. People pay a lot of money to come here to visit - I get to live here and I own a little piece of it. Lincoln is as close as I'm getting to Nebraska anytime soon.

Spiritof27, I live in a little town along the Guadalupe River. Somewhat of a summertime tourist attraction. This is about as close as I'm getting to Venezuela anytime soon. Except for the politics, it sounds like you pretty much live in Heaven.

Them politicians can go take a flying ____ at the moon. Here's a question for ya. What would they do if we all stayed home on Election Day? Not a single vote cast. You're all fired! Let's start over.

I think its nice to live anywhere you have a roof over your head. Better yet, some folks wish they were still around, cuz they're now dead.Maybe this will be hard to know since its been said, but i agree with all who arent laid up in a bed.

I kind of liked Jerry Ford. In the year or so he was President he vetoed 52 bills. That is an admirable record. We already have a quarter million laws, trying to enforce ten commandments.
