Don't know about a tongue patch. I just unhooked him, took a look at him, then released him. Other than the coloring there was nothing else impressive about him. Probably a small spotted bass. I think they have some in that lake but I'm not sure. I wrote a wildlife expert that used to work for the DNR at that station. He should know what species of bass are in the lake.
Sure would have been nice to see a pitcher.

Yes, I got to figger out a way to mount the phone. I'm old and I can't handle a fish in one hand while fiddling with a phone in the other. I need to be able to get it done before the fish dies and without winding up in the water myself. After all, I'm there to fish, not take pitchers. VBG! I think I'll order one of them Weathertech cup holder cell phone holders. That should hold the phone.
I've come to the conclusion that what I caught was a Spotted Bass. A lot prettier than the Largemouth Bass I been catching.
Thanks Guys for helping me figger out what it was.
Hard to guess. Smallmouth in this part of the country have red eyes.
It sounds like a small mouth hybrid

The newer GO-Pro‘S are voice acrivated so you can turn on the video ir tell it to just take a picture. Has a chest holder or a head band holder. Great for situations like you have. Just a thought.
Simple commands such as “ go pro turn on” “go pro start video” “ go pro take picture” “ go pro turn off” Even an old fart like me can get it right.
Was this a nuclear power plant ? lol!
Maybe a Guadalupe Bed Bass
