Not a fisher. Husband is. His birthday is coming up & I have no clue what to get him. I want to get him something awesome that he can’t live without or something that he can take with him everytime he goes out on the water. He normally fishes out of lakes here in Oklahoma. He likes to catch catfish, crappie, bass. Whatever he can. Mostly on the shore but he’s looking at buying himself a little boat. What can you guys recommend, if anything? Thanks!

If he fishes from a boat or kayak, how about an inflatable life preserver? They are more comfortable than that standard ones and therefore more likely to be worn. Probably not a necessity if fishing from a lake shore, but potentially a lifesaver if river wading or boating.

Hard to advise when we don't know what he already has. And how much do you want to spend? Does he have a weatherman multitool? It's got a bunch of different tools in it and folds up like a pocket knife. I don't know how I ever got by without mine. They cost around 100 bucks or less.

The automatic inflatable life jackets are a good safety device. A nice $10,000 or more boat would really make him happy but that is a big investment. Maybe a used local boat with high sides to prevent capsizing or sinking would be much more affordable. There are also single person inflatable pontoon boats for a few hundred dollars that can even have small electric trolling motors as well as the oars onboard for propulsion. Drive him to his favorite fishing tackle store and let him buy whatever his heart desires but most of we fisherman can blow hundreds or thousand without much effort in the Outdoors Supply Companies these days. Happy Birthday to him and you are a great wife to ask for Fishingstage Members advice on the perfect gift.

What ever you get him, please come back and tell us what it was and if he liked it. We've given advice to several folks in the past, and nobody that I know of has reported on what that did get. Let us know.

SadBirdStillSings: Have you considered a stay-at-home gift of warpping yourself in saran wrap. Since we are in a semi-quarantine and social distancing, this might be something he would never forget. I believe big, expensive gifts like a boat are out, unless he has left the exact specifications or a page torn out of a catalog it will not be what he wanted. Just sayin...RJS

Yes it was Jeremy. But it was just a bow, no Saran Wrap.

Sounds like he wants to buy a little boat.
I guess it depends on if you can afford to buy one.
