If the steak was overdone (as many people cook them), it
seems like a little steak sauce would make it somewhat more palatable ? I prefer mine medium-rare to medium; any more than that and it's ruined ! I WILL take one 'black and blue', though ! Seared black on the outside and
almost raw on the inside !

That celery salt is definitely an east coast thing, and it's also pretty darned good. I'm certainly not offended by Oscar Meyer they have a really unique flavor and to me they are very good, but for a "traditional" tasting dog, I'm a big fan of Casper's. They have a natural casing, and I love that POP! when you bite into one. I get em at Costco. If you're ever in L.A. and you're at the ball park, Dodger Dogs are supposed to be right up there with the Red Hots at Wrigley Field. They're made by Farmer John, I can get those at any store here, they're ok. Don't know where you go to get those Red Hots (other than Chicago at the ball park) or who makes em, but a couple of those and a cold beer on a warm day at Wrigley, Cubs playin my Giants? Don't get much better than that.

Yeah, those natural casing franks were delicious; those two home brands I mentioned earlier were made that way, and I've yet to
find their equal anywhere else !
Was not a 'team' sports fan
other than football; always preferred individual sports
such as hunting, fishing, skiing, skating, so the odds of my going to a ball park are about nil ! Have never seen or heard of Casper's;
I've been to a half-dozen different grocery chains out here and have not seen that brand anywhere !

Okay ! Not to be a critic, but it's
to each his own ! Can't speak to Hebrew National, as I've never tried them ! Had Nathan's at
Coney Island - was NOT impressed ! Grew up with a
couple of local brands back
home - Schonland's and Jordan's; they were both very good ! My
dad liked them so much that whenever he left to go back to Florida, he would buy a case of them and freeze them for the
trip home ! Current favorites are Oscar Meyer's, for hot dogs and bacon ! For us, hot dog toppings included mustard, sweet relish and a dash of celery salt (with
or without finely chopped
onions) ! My youngest brother
was the 'odd duck'; he was the
one with the ketchup ! We all looked at him askance, as that was roughly equivalent to a criminal act in our family; it was unheard of, as ketchup was for burgers, fries, and occasionally onion rings ! Oh, and if I have a fresh batch of chili available, that may go on it instead, with a little shredded cheese !
Okay ! Not to be a critic, but it's br to each hi... (show quote)

Try sour cream on your cheesey chili, you'll love it.

My dad would season the steaks with a bunch of seasoning and I believe capers. He let the steaks season for 24 hours then grilled them. I hated the seasoning, tasted nasty. Unfortunately, we had steak quite often. Those dinners I didn't eat a lot. I would also fight a lot with my parents on those days. You all know the old saying about cleaning your plate and how many starving people there was around the world. I also had to sit at the table till I was done eating my dinner and the plate was clean.

I have used many packages of bar-s Frank's for fish bait but I have never eaten one. I bought a bunch once & ground them up for chum. Worked very well but most of the time I don't need chum where i set my lines. I did throw some finely ground bar-s out while fishing at night with lights. It really drew the minnows.

I see they're a San Francisco Bay Area thing. Probably only available locally. I've never eaten at the chain, never even seen one. I just know they're one of my favorites - throw em on the grill, let the juices bust thru the casing, get a little crispy. Good stuff!

I see that Costco's handles them I wonder if that is all Costco's or just certain ones?

I just looked on-line at Costco and they're not available to order. So I'm guessing they're a regional item, only available on the left coast around the Bay Area.

Maybe. The most that one can order is 10 pounds at a time by there chart maybe if you started ordering them in bulk you could get larger quantities shipped to you.
