I have been reading this forum for a while but can't remember if I introduced myself. I am a semi geezer lady living just east of Tampa in a town called Thonotosassa. I have always loved to fish but am not very good at it but am keen to learn more. And now they have closed down the parks where I usually went fishing ( but not catching except for one fat catfish from the Hillsborough River). If anyone in the area is looking for an occasional fishing buddy let me know. I don't have a boat so have just been fishing from banks and docks....except in alligator mating season.😜

Welcome to the stage Deb and thanks for telling us your location. However would you please enter that info in the user profile. That way others will know when you post or reply to a post.

There are 52 Florida users listed here on the stage I see another from the Tampa area but your town of Thonotosassa is a first. Hang in there, others will be posting.

Ok, I did that. There is a decent size lake here, Lake Thonotosassa, but I haven't fished there because people have told me not to eat the fish( assuming I caught one) and access seems to be limited.

Thanks for the user info Deb. When I google your area there are a lot of other areas to go to. Do you ever hit the bay , gulf, or go east?

It's an hour west to Clearwater Beach from here and my gear isn't good for saltwater. An hour or a bit more east and there are the lakes near Orlando. I saw one person mentioned Lake Minneola. So I looked it up and that's a bit over an hour east of here. So I usually just mosey into one of the parks along the Hillsborough River but they are all closed now as are the beaches. Drat. Wish I at least had my own stocked pond. Maybe someday if I can get myself back to the Ozarks.

Hi Deb, this is Rich I live on Lake Griffin in Leesburg, Fl. (about an hour from you) I have a 22ft Hurricane Deck boat and fish for bass and crappie. Always interested in meeting new fishing partners. Lake Griffin is part of The Harris chain of lakes. BEAUTIFUL! Google it, it's in lake county.
Do you ever get over this way?

I haven't had any reason to be out that way....yet. Might just do that in the near future. Thanks.

I let me know, I'm ready to fish, enjoy the scenery and enjoy a cold beer.

There seems to be fenced areas on the southern Bank of the lake where I have seen people fishing. But you're right, it seems if you don't live in one of the lake community mini mansions it is hard to find a place to fish from. But there are plenty of bridges over the river and several parks, just not open now. Hope they open soon.
