Was wondering about times as over the years I've caught crappie in this lake its been after 10 am, the way the wind comes up here I'm going to try earlier Monday. I have caught a couple of smaller (10 in.) around 9 but the bigger ones come on a bit later. I missed a few yesterday so going to use a circle hook on 1 line.

They’ll bite under lights, like a spotlight or a bar of lights. The brighter the better. The lights attract bugs and bugs attract the fish.

I bought a LUCKY depth sounder and when the sensor is turned on you can also turn on lights under it, supposed to be fish attractors.

I love this story. What you don't know about "smart" phones you certainly make up for in turning a phrase, as well as catching fish. I remember being scared to death of dropping my i-phone into the Grand Canyon.... and I had two hands on it!
I got up early, got some stuff done that I needed to do and went trout fishing like I said I was going to do. My sole purpose was to catch a decent trout, take a picture of it and post it on here for you guys to see. Now you have to realize, that the only thing I do with my phone is to plug it in to charge it and to unplug it when it is charged. I can make a call, and maybe if I get a call I can answer it, sometimes. Usually not before it quits ringing but sometimes I can call back. My sweetheart gave me a quick lesson on how to take a picture. Ya, ya, got it. Simple enough. So I tool down to my "Honey Hole", someone is already there but, where he is parked I think he went upstream. My "Honey Hole" is downstream, o.k. good no one is there. I sneak into the water, and on my first cast, fish on, and a decent one. O.K., I'm knee-deep, in the middle of a stream, trying to get my phone out of my waders, with a decent trout on, trying to turn the phone on. It's a smart trac-fone, so it needs a pin number to get it on, o.k. I put the pin in, "incorrect pin", try again, "incorrect pin". This goes on for about 5 minutes. You have to realize that I'm standing knee-deep in water and mud, with a damn phone in one hand and a fly rod with a trout on, in the other hand. I get the phone on and the camera icon comes up, and I punched the icon, and nothing happens, I punch it about a doz. times and the phone goes off. Oh God, here I go again. After another 10 minutes, I get the phone on the, camera icon on, punch the icon and I'm looking at an imagine of myself on the phone. She didn't tell me what to do if this happens. I turned the phone around, that wasn't the answer. The trout was exhausted by this time so I grabbed the tippet to pick the trout up and take the fly out and the tippet breaks, the trout swims off with the fly hanging out of its lip. Tie a fly on, make 3 or 4 more casts and bing, fish on, even a better one. So, I go through the same damn BS again, and again, and again. I quit! Catching a trout was not a problem, they were 10 yds in front of me, but to take a picture was a problem. I climbed out of the stream, took the phone out, turned it on, put the pin in, punched the phone icon, looked at myself and took a picture. Good I will put this on my avatar. I came home and my wife put the picture in the gallery, I pluged the cord into the phone and the computer, Ran the instructions off on how to put your avatar on, and it didn't work! Now it's BEER time.[/quote
it was a good day anyhow fly
wish I could get out
but I'm locked in until further notice

Would have loved to catch a video of you, but same problem, by the time I figured out the phone, fish would be gone and I’d have dropped the phone in the creek laughing. Great story !

I had an albino snake (about 3 feet long) in my yard and I went through the same BS trying to get a picture of it. That didn't work but the picture of that beautiful snake will live in my mind forever.

Hey FG. I also have a smart trac phone. If you just push the button on the right side of the PH twice the camera comes on. Mine is a Samsung Galaxy. I heard that it is suppose to be that way on other PHs also. Check yours and see if it works that way too. That way you don't have to put in your pin # to get the camera to come on. Let me know if it works.[/q

We both have a Samsung Galaxys, I think, mine is a year old and my sweethearts is 3 years old and when I hit the on button the second time they go off. The problem was trying to do everything with only two hands while standing in a foot of mud and a foot of water. I think I could have done everything 25 years ago, along with smoking a Winston and drinking a Miller Lite but I have lost some coordination lately. It might be from quitting smoking. I know it's not from cutting back on the Miller Lite. I will get up early tomorrow morning and see if I get something posted. Well,,,,,,,,, maybe I won't get up early, there is a 100% chance of rain. But, I will see if I can put an avatar up and maybe some fish of the past. Have a good evening.
Well one thing for sure you were in your honey hole catching fish. Maybe next time get your wife to go with you fishing to take the pictures. Have fun catching those trout.

When I’m by myself, and I remember to take a picture, this is about the only way I’ve ever figured out how to take a picture. I have a few pictures like this where you get a good picture of my hand with a fish in there somewhere.
