This isn't Florida! We in Washington don't hang out and socialize in close proximity on beaches in March, so there can be zero justification for the state to close down essentially all recreational boating and fishing to protect us from Covid-19. That's outdoor time to enjoy with my wife, food for our table, fresh air and exercise FOR OUR HEALTH- NOT a way to catch a virus and get sick. It is a short short road from "In This Together" to Kiss Your Freedoms Goodbye."

I always say that the reason you need the lime in the Corona is to kill the skunk !!!!
So maybe you are onto something !

FishingGirl, yes it is also confusing to those of us who live secluded from other here in Washington. As I’ve mentioned in other post, the river that I fish daily runs past my house. I can walk out the back door, cross the yard and step up on my favorite rock. With this closure I am forbidden from fishing from my own property.
A week ago I witnessed first hand the disregard for the social distancing orders at a small local public fishing pond. It was a crowded unruly zoo. Just too many undisciplined people are deciding that fishing is a great outdoor activity are unwilling be safe about it. So, the State makes the decision for all of us😡.
I hope that it doesn’t get that point in your state. Best wishes and stay safe!

So does that mean that we'll have X amount of days extra fishing days at end of the year?

We are 1/2 mile from the boat launch, put the boat in and go 3 miles on the creek and that is where the Potomac and Chesapeake Bay meet.
We live in A one stop light unincorporated town out in the country.
25 miles and across the River to the nearest Walmart.
If we have to stay home, there is plenty to get done here at home.
Stay safe. PS Wash your hands and do not touch your face !!!!

Perhaps. But really that probably should be the least of our concern.
I’m not happy with having the closure imposed, but I am more concerned that people are dying from this pandemic. I know that many of us (me included) who are blowing off steam are willing to give up fishing for a few weeks (??) as our contribution to controlling this plague on humanity.

Our state lakes closed all their restrooms and showers along with primitive camping yesterday. Lakes are open to fish and camper sites with hookups are open. Even lake closures would be a small price to pay. Think about it. I’d rather breath than fish.

excuse me I need to fish now Loc: Puyallup, Washington (near Tacoma)

Yeah, I kinda miss the fishin’ here too. But, really, it’s cold and rainy right now anyway! I fished in that years ago because I worked M-F and fished when I could. Semi-retired now and realizing I don’t have to fish in the rain any more. And extra days at the end of the season? There is fishing open (normally) year round. May not be my favorite species but if I really wanted to there’s always fishin’ out there.
