How is the lake level this year? When we left California it was really low.

If you left here like three years ago then when you left it was drastically low. It recovered and filled back up and now it's pretty far down, but no more than usual for this time of year. Natoma is the Folsom after bay (fore bay? I always get those mixed up) and it's level never changes much and the water is always pretty cold. Up by the Folsom dam there is a population of enormous rainbows and probably bass too, because you can't fish up there, it's prison property. Every once in a while one of those big boys will decide to go for a stroll and you'll hear about some lucky angler hooking into a 20+ pounder. The rainbows that come out of that lake are usually described as "footballs", their girth is amazing. Well fed. And no, there ain't no speckledy ones in there.

Just get a power inverter and use it and the battery won't run down.

On the knife anyway.

I have a Rapala battery operated filet knife I would highly recommend. If you decide to go battery operated, go with a knife with an ION battery. I am on my 2nd such knife, first one lasted 11 years. The ion battery will hold a charge for months.

Egghead I see in your reply that I-80 was closed in Rock Springs it dawned on me that I’ve spent a couple of nights in my 5th wheel in your Wal-Mart parking lot on the way to Kansas City.

Well I wouldn't know. Biggest I've ever caught was about 8 or so. Trout that is. None caught today.+
