Alright folks, I’m about to go on a big shopping spree for lures, and wanted to see what you guys swear by and maybe try out some new lures. I fish freshwater, Bass, Northern, crappie, and ‘gills. Tight lines!

Well Tatted, you asked and you got the answers. Do you have enough money!
Welcome Fishy from Alabama. Check out wired 2 fish along with others for a lot of info before you go buying.

If you're going on a shopping spree, buy some well-reviewed books on fishing!
If you know their behavior, their habits, preferences, and needs... you can get it done with a tube... or a grub. If you want to go crazy get three colors: white, green pumpkin, and black or junebug. :)

Hooked, could you kindly recommend a few good books on fishing? I’ve searched my local library and found only one bass-specific book: “Circle on Bass.” I learned a LOT from that book and would love to benefit from another veteran angler’s experience.
Thanks!
Have you ever though about doing a monthly mail order for lures? Like MTB or Karl's Bait and tackle? I still go out to stores but I started getting boxes in the mail and it's so nice! I decided to go with 6th sence box and I have to say I honestly fell in love with the 6th sence brand. Plus it's always exciting to see what you are going to receive in the mail. They are reasonably priced and it saves on the struggle of finding time to get to the store and compare this lure to that one. It's just something to think about.

It's been around a while now, but I have such consistent results on every lake I fish with it, that I swear by it. Zooms Watermellon Red Super Fluke. I fish it without a weight in the early morning hours putting all kinds of action on it. jumping lilly pads, letting it sink, then up and over again. When the sun comes up and it's starts to get hot, I will Carolina rig it with the weight about 14-16 inches off the nose. I've caught more bass on this one lure than anything else I've used combined. good luck. the color is important.
I got just one piece of advice for you. When Bass Fishing, no matter how great, or subtle the hit, even if you aren't convinced it was a fish. Set the hook like you know it's a 12 pounder. Once fishing Grassy Island in Lake Kissimmee on Fathers day about 12 years ago, my brother and I had just arrived at our first stop of the morning. We were still talking about whatever it was, and I stood up on the bow and chunked a Kissimmee Blue 10 inch worm. I let it sit for a few seconds as I generally do, and then very slowly started to retrieve it. I felt a very slight bump, and I half heartedly set the hook. As I becan reeling it in, I tell my brother, he's about 2-4 lbs. What I hadn't considered was that he was swimming towards me at the time. When it got about 15 feet from the boat it spotted me, and leaped straight up out of the water a good three feet. That 2-4 pounder instantly became every bit of 12 lbs plus right there just feet away. It was enormous, no fish tales either. Anyways the Hawg threw the hook, and that was that. Between us we didn't get even a nibble the rest of that day. But it sure started out with a bang. I broke the cardinal rule, never underestimate what you can't see.
