Manchester Is right in the middle of several good to really good lakes and rivers. Normandy Lake is probably closed to you about 10 miles East of Manchester Spotted Bass, Largemouth and Crappie. to your North 20 miles or less is Center Hill Spotted Largemouth and a few Smallmouth. Further North is Dale Hollow home of the world record Smallmouth, the hollow has smallmouth and largemouth bass, walleye and lake trout. Woods is to your south east maybe 25 miles, Woods is a small lake but probably your best bet for a trophy Largemouth or Smallmouth and has a large population of Crappie. A little further south maybe 30 miles is Tims Ford that is were I am right next to the Tim's Ford dam It
s largemouth Smallmouth hydride and stripped bass. all of these lakes except Woods have tailgaters full of trout Rainbows, Browns and Brooks are stocked regularly. If you get down around Tim's give me a shout I might can help put you on a few fish.

I believe I said Dale Hollow, TN. That may also be called Lake Cumberland. Used to vacation every year & stay a week. Back then, they had log cabins that they rented. It may have been called Holly Creek.
My mother would say, I hope we don't have to go to Dale Hollow on our vacation this year. She did not ever fish, but she would sit on the dock & read while sometimes I would go in a rowboat. I could see her from a distance checking on me in that boat. She would embarress me because she wanted me to go out on a motor boat to fish & would tell them about her daughter. I guess she was worried I would fall out of the rowboat. Of course that was In the late 50s & early 60s. After I married, never got to go to Dale Hollow again. It was a beautiful lake.
Finally after husband passed away (too old now to drive that far by myself) still would have desire to go fishing at Dale Hollow. Brings back alot of memories. But I did hear years ago that there was a smallmouth record that was caught there.

Yep Dale Hollow is the home of the World Record Smallmouth Bass 11pounds 15 1/2 ounces. I've been to Holly Creek some really good fishing there. Dale Hollow is one of the few lakes around where there is NO privately owned land on the lake. It's still like it was 50 years ago no docks, Except commercial, all open banks with no one anywhere around. There is nothing around Dale Hollow expect Celina TN. a very small town that has a couple places to eat, maybe a Dollar store and of all things two liquor stores. If you're going someplace to go shopping this is not the place to go, if you want piece and quiet that's it.

I'm a new user too. I tried to reply to you but don't know if it went through. I moved to Belfast TN from the Saint Clair lake and river system in Michigan. I have fished 10 lakes in mid TN and it took me a while to learn what works on muddy water and rocky bottoms with no weeds. But I overcame the challenge and still learning. Bass is my main target. I too am looking for a partner. I used to fish the old Redman Tournaments
in the 80's but it became more work than fun for me.

Glad to know someone is familiar with Dale Hollow. Mother & I would go to town of Celina & go to the one drive inn movie. That's about all we did in the town. I would get up very early, & get her up to go fishing. I wouldn't leave that dock till started to get dark. I loved the log cabin we stayed in. It had a stove & refrigerator & bathroom with shower. Very nice. The outside was made of logs. It had a screened in porch also. One of the young guys who worked on the dock caught some bass. I think he took bread & formed a ball with no sinker and caught them. He cleaned them & gave them to us to take back to the cabin to fry, which we did. Very good. Those were the good old days.

Welcome TripleP51. I'm in NE TN near Knoxville. Moved here from NE WI. The guys/gals on this forum are great. You will get plenty of solid suggestions. I got tired of WI winters too. Money goes a bit further here. Welcome to the Volunteer state from a fellow yankee.
